Baek Dayeon stared at her parents with eyes full of contentment. She could barely contain her excitement when her parents suggested they go out for ice cream, forgetting the shitty events that occurred recently.

Words can't even explain the amount of happiness she was feeling. She's always wished for this, going out for ice cream with her parents, or just being able to have a basic conversation with them that wasn't 30 seconds long or on the phone. A small part of her couldn't help but overthink that it was too good to be true, that this was just another dream of hers that she'd wake up from.

But no, it was all real. So very real that she didn't even notice her ice cream had begun melting and she had been in her own thoughts for the past few minutes.

"Now, I'm sure you're still a little confused," her dad began to speak up. "Your mother and I, have been given a long break from work,"

Hearing this, Dayeon's lips immediately turned up into a big smile. This all really felt like a dream. Her mom continued, "I know we haven't been the best parents, but we will try our best now! So tell us, what's been happening at school?"

"We heard about your semi-finals for track soon," added her dad, to which her mother nodded.

"You know about it?" she questioned, quite surprised because she didn't think they cared.

"You're racing against 3 different schools, of course, we know!"

"We're very very proud of you,"

That was it. That was all she ever wanted to hear from them in the past years. It took almost everything in her not to burst out in tears right then and there. She cleared her throat, grinning at them to which her dad ruffled her hair messily, earning an annoyed groan from her.

To say that Dayeon was dreading to go to school the next day was an understatement. She had so much fun with her parents the day before that she completely forgetting the problems (Nishimura Riki) she was currently facing at school.

However, she took a deep breath before stepping inside the classroom. She had arrived quite early so it was no surprise that not many people were there, including Harin, which was unfortunate because she wanted to spill everything that happened yesterday.

Her feet took her to her seat before she even knew it. She was sure she could get there with her eyes closed at this point. But she abruptly stopped in her tracks seeing someone in her seat. She furrowed her eyebrows in slight confusion as she looked at Kang Iseul.

As if on cue, Kang Iseul spoke up, very loudly at that, "Your new seat is there," she pointed to the very back of the classroom. "Next to the weird quiet kid,"

Her eyes glanced over to where she pointed and raised her eyebrows. New seat? How come she didn't hear about this. Not that she was happy sitting next to Nishimura Riki, of course. She looked over to Riki, who was mindlessly scrolling on his phone. He had the hood of his hoodie over his head, and she couldn't help but gaze at the boy and how his hair fell so effortlessly—
