"To see your mother?"

"I...I know you might be thinking I'm crazy. I must've gotten out of my mind. But there's a thing I haven't told you yet. It's my mother. I don't know why it was there, but those scribbled words haunted me every single day. I keep thinking to myself that maybe it's just my feelings. There won't be any alarm, right? But then, one day, she appeared in my dream. I saw her right in front of me. She held both of my hands inside hers and looked into my eyes as if she were asking me to trust my instincts. And how silly of me to think it was just some nonsense things... She left me a box with random stuff. I found a note, in her handwriting. Asking me a question that I never thought of before. Hah... Did she know that I was dying to see her again? I am sober enough to tell what is real and what is not. But her words... Can a dead person rise to the world again? Can I see her for the last time? Can we meet each other again? I don't even know. I'm not strong enough to face this. I don't want to feel them again. These feelings, where every day I'm hoping for a miracle to happen. That I will see her again. But I know the fact that it is impossible. There is no way it was real."

Nan was all ears. It was hard to understand how it felt to be in his shoes. Or specifically, how it feels to have a soft heart as a human being. And based on the way Mac poured his heart into, how he opened up about his feelings, it was awfully painful to bear. Yet, the person whom he talked to can only listen but the emotions are locked out.

"I need your help." Mac closed his eyes as he didn't want to see thing gets ugly.

"I know how ridiculous it sounds to you. I know how fucked up my request is. I know...everything in my life always goes wrong. But Nan, you, you're the only person who could help me, who will help me to get through this by granting my wish. Only you. And I promise this will be the first and the last favor I ask from you. Please...help me only this time."

Nan's eyes only fixed on the person in front of him. He would not dare to hurt his loved one but things can get ugly by doing the impossible. Especially when he was so afraid of something that even words aren't enough to hold how heavy it feels for him too. Who might only know the ending of this story?

"I can't do that." Nan firmly spoke his answer.

"What do you mean by you can't?"

"...Mac"

"It doesn't matter. I need you to get me with this thing."

Nan looked at him with soft eyes. Mac is no longer able to contain his anger. Every word cuts deep to the bone. He kept messing with his hair until they were ruined. Breathing out, Mac gave up his legs and sat on the couch. He is mad at himself that he couldn't let them out. Which led his eyes to well with tears streaming down his cheeks. No matter how hard he holds them, or how he tries to hide them, those tears will always be the first to be seen and no longer able to hide them. He hated himself for being weak. Just with a little harsh thing his heart breaks into two.

"Why is it so hard for you to listen?" He sobbed. "Am I the problem? I'm not asking for much... Just please... I need your help. I wanted to see my mother again." Mac wiped his face and stood on his feet.

His gaze falls into the latter. He tried to find the assurance from Nan. He just needed a word for the thing that he asked for. Is it too much to ask? Or does he act too desperate? Asking for something impossible to be given.

"Nan, I need that... Please say that you're willing to help me. Only for this once. Please...I'm begging you."  Mac talked in a whisper. He makes himself look smaller.

Nan could see the situation. He saw how Mac was breaking into tears. And now he clinged to him asking something that he wasn't completely sure what to do. Nan had no intention of not helping him with this matter. But the actual reason is that he wanted Mac to have a life a normal life. He knows Mac has a father who can take care of him, who can be his company, and who is willing to be with him until the end.

"It's too risky for you."

"Is it because I am just a mere human being? Is that the reason why?"

Nan went silent. He still kept his distance between them.

"Is that a yes? Hah. You know you can never stop me from whatever the possibility I might do later."

The vampire was surprised. How those words shocked him. As if those shit just strikes into his brain and threatened him. This is a new side he discovered from humankind. A new version of emotion. As a non-human, Nan barely grows into various emotions. In his world, they were born to serve the king and were taught to be a warrior, a leader, a heartless creatures just to be stronger. They believe whoever develops those traits after being given the hundreds lesson will be the first to lead the pack.

Mac got to his feet and walked towards the door. Holding the knob and right before he left, he blurted out his last words.

"You won't understand. You can never understand."

Nan breathed out. He took some time to process his thoughts. This is not something funny like a child play. It could be a suicide mission. Perhaps not for him but for Mac. His life will depend on it. The ritual will greatly affect him. Which could end up making him lose a lot of his core spirits. Or even worse a death penalty where his soul can no longer be resurrected again. For him to be born into the next life.

Outside, it was raining hard. Not even a slight sunray could be seen. Holding an umbrella, a young man shows up in from of the door. The knocking sound freaked him out. He got on his feet and walked towards the front door only to see his dumb best friend.

"Mac, are you in there? Open this damn door for me!"

He sighed. "Why would I bother if the first thing I saw in the morning is you?" He spoke bluntly while unlocking the door.

"Oh, that is so mean of you."

He shakes his head. "Come in."

They walked into the house and sat on the floor in front of the fire chamber.

"Now what?"

"Well... You've been avoiding me for these couple of days."

"Yeah, and?"

"My goodness. Now you giving me attitude, huh? I bet that dude has influenced you in the wrong way."

Mac narrowed his gaze towards the person sitting next to him without any words. He breathed out just to feel relief knowing so well things don't seem to get better. Nothing happened in the way he wanted.

"Don't tell me you just get dumbed by that pale-skinned freak?" Dew spilled out those words right in front of his face.

Mac's eyes trail off. He cannot help but avoid looking into his friend's eyes. More like, he won't let Dew know about the current situation. Otherwise, things can get even messier.

"I see. Is that the reason why you're acting like this?"

"I'm fine."

His friend was eyeing him from the side. "You don't seem fine to me."

He sighed. "Enough about that. What brings you here today?"

"Ah... Well not much. I am just missing you."

"You have to be kidding me."

They both talked and made fun of each other but none of the conversation spoke about the third person. Mac made simple meals and Dew kept running his mouth, gossiping about the girls.

"I'm leaving. Thank you for the meal. Oh, before that!" He stopped in his mid-sentence.

Mac was about to shut the door when Dew turned to face him and held his finger against his lips. But Mac simply brushed them off.

"What else do you wanna talk about?"

"You better not lie to me."

He raised his eyebrow. "About what?"

"That you're a bottom."

Silence ~

"Get out."
