It was a quiet evening at work which was surprising, considering it being saturday night. Emily, who was kind enough to let me stay at her place for a few weeks, was behind the counter, making cocktails for the local men. I was cleaning the tables when I noticed Sarah standing in the doorway, her arms crossed and when my eyes met hers, I knew. I knew she knew about me and Joel.

"Fuck..."I mumbled, sighing heavily.

Sarah made her way to me and I had nowhere to escape. How the hell am I supposed to explain everything to her? From her body language, I could tell she was mad.

"Daisy, we need to talk,"Sarah said, her voice tinged with disappointment.

I nodded, unable to look at her. "I know."

Emily shot me a sympathetic look. When I first moved into her place, she knew I was in trouble. We sat on her couch, drinking wine and no matter how much I tried to hold myself back from bursting out everything, I wasn't really successful at that. The wine has done its job and before I knew it, I told her everything.

I put down my cleaning items and we went to a quieter place to talk. I didn't want to talk in front of everyone.

"I heard from Tommy,"Sarah explained. "When you moved out without explanation, I knew something was wrong. Tommy and dad didn't talk either and I didn't know what was going on."

I sighed. "Look, Sarah..."

"How could you, Daisy?"she asked, her voice demanded with hurt. "With my dad? What the fuck was wrong with you?"

"I'm sorry, Sarah,"I said, my voice shaking. "I never meant for any of this to happen."

"I don't wanna hear your excuses,"Sarah said, anger in her voice. "It's disgusting, Daisy."

Tears welled up in my eyes as I tried to find the right words to explain the situation. But how could I explain this to her? How could I make things right? This might sound dramatic but I felt like everything was crashing down on me.

"It's complicated, Sarah. Joel and I... it just happened,"I sighed, wiping my tears. "I never meant to hurt you or anyone else."

"Just happened?"Sarah scoffed. "Both of you messed up big time."

"I'm sorry, Sarah."I said again, meaning every word. "But please try to understand...

"Understand?"Sarah asked, raising her voice. "How can I understand when my best friend has been fucking my father?"

I reached out, wanting to comfort her but she pushed my hand away, taking a step back. "Sarah, I swear I never wanted to hurt you. Joel didn't want to hurt you either. You know we both love you, right?"

Sarah shook her head, her expression a mix of anger and hurt. "If that were true, both of you wouldn't have betrayed me like this. I need some time, Daisy. I need some time to process all of this."

Without another word, Sarah turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, small raindrops falling down on me. I wiped the tears with my sleeve, feeling utterly defeated. I sat down on the emergency exit stairs, burying my face into my hands. How had everything gone so wrong? How can I fix everything?

As I sat there, the weight of guilt and regret pressing down on me, Emily approached with a concerned expression. She placed a gentle hand on my shoulder, offering me a sympathetic smile.

"Daisy, are you okay?"she asked softly.

I shook my head, unable to find the words to express the turmoil swirling inside me. "I don't know, Em. Everything's just... a mess."

Emily squeezed my shoulder comfortingly. "You know where to find me if you need to talk, right?"

I appreciated her offer, but right now, I didn't even know where to begin. My mind was a jumble of conflicting emotions, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd irreparably damaged my relationship with Sarah. And everyone else included in this mess.

"I think I just need some time alone,"I finally managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper.

Emily nodded understandingly. "Of course. Take all the time you need. And remember, I'm here if you need anything. Are you sure you're okay? It's pretty cold outside."

"Yeah, I'm fine."I gave her a weak smile. "I just need some air."

"Okay, if you're sure."

Emily patted me on the back and with that, she left me alone. The cool night air did little to calm the storm raging within me. As I sat there, letting the rain drop on me, I couldn't shake the sinking feeling that things would never be the same.
