2 months later

"You look absolutely beautiful,"Joel said, wrapping his arms around me behind my back, leaning his chin on my shoulder.

"You're not so bad looking yourself,"I chuckled, looking at him in the mirror.

"Thanks, I guess,"Joel chuckled, kissing me on the cheek.

I turned around, planting a soft kiss on his lips. Despite the challenges we had faced over these past 2 months, when we decided to be together officially, I was happier than ever. When we pulled away, I traced my fingers lightly over Joel's suit jacket, admiring how handsome he looked in a suit. As Joel and I stood there, dressed in our finest attire for Sarah's graduation ceremony, I couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for how far we had come in just two short months.

Couple of hours later, as we made our way to the ceremony venue, I couldn't shake the nervous butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I knew that facing my family, especially my dad who came here to see me and talk, would be difficult after the fallout from our relationship. But having Joel by my side gave me the courage and strength I needed to confront whatever challenges lay ahead.

As we took our seats among the crowd of proud parents and family members, I felt Joel's reassuring presence beside me, his hand gently squeezing mine in silent support. I glanced over at him, offering a grateful smile.

After the ceremony, we went back home, having a little family gathering over at Joel's place. The atmosphere was a little bit awkward, I'm not gonna lie but Joel's presence made it all a little bit more bearable.

"Daisy?"

I turned around, facing my father. I haven't seen both of my parents in a long time and I realized how much I missed them. I knew our relationship was complicated but they were my parents and I loved them.

"Can I talk to you? In private,"he asked, his voice quiet.

"Yeah, let's go inside."

I knew this conversation would come but I wasn't ready for it. We walked past my mom who gave me a reassuring smile. As we entered the house and found a quiet corner away from the rest of the guests, my father's expression was serious, his features etched with concern. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for whatever he had to say.

He cleared his throat, his expression serious yet tinged with a hint of regret. "Daisy, I know things have been difficult between us lately. I want you to know that... I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not understanding, for not being there for you when you needed me."

His words caught me off guard, and for a moment, I struggled to find my own voice amidst the flood of emotions swirling within me. "Dad, it's okay. I understand. It was a complicated situation."

My father nodded, his gaze softening with relief at my response. "Thank you, Daisy. But that doesn't excuse my behavior. I should have been there for you, regardless of the circumstances."

I reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. "I understand your side too. It wasn't easy to hear that your best friend is having an affair with your daughter."

My father's expression shifted, his eyes reflecting a mix of regret and understanding. "No, it wasn't easy," he admitted, his voice tinged with sorrow. "But that's no excuse for the way I reacted. I let my emotions cloud my judgment, and I hurt you in the process."

"Dad, it's okay,"I said, giving him a faint smile. "I just... want to move on. I want to rebuild our relationship."

"It wasn't easy to come to terms with this but..."he took my hand, looking into my eyes. "You're my daughter, Daisy. I just want you to be happy. And if Joel is the one who makes you happy, then I'll do my best to support you."

"Thank you, dad,"I whispered, pulling him into a hug. "I love you."

"I love you too, Daisy."

I felt a sense of peace wash over me as we stood there, hugging each other. Despite the pain and the challenges we had faced, there was hope for reconciliation. As we released each other from the embrace, a weight lifted off my shoulders, replaced by a renewed sense of hope and understanding.

Returning to the gathering, I found Joel waiting for me, his eyes filled with warmth and affection. Without a word, he wrapped me in his arms, offering silent support and understanding. My gaze met with Sarah's who gave me a comforting smile.

Joel kissed the top of my head and I closed my eyes, knowing that despite the hardships, everything ended well.
