Pitch paced through his new lair eagerly.

Soon, soon. Just a little longer and he would be able to act. Yes, this would work. It was full proof. Everything was unfolding according to plan. All he had to do now was make sure all the pieces were in place. Then, when the time came. Like carefully set up dominoes, everything would fall and fall into place, for him at least. The Guardians were going to fall apart! They'd never find her again. Nothing was going to stop him from destroying the guardians and ushering in a new dark age now...

(Elsa's POV)

As she grew older, her powers grew stronger and so did her fears. Years of isolation and self-hatred had molded her into a fragile and quiet person. Anna had long ago stopped knocking, just as Elsa had long ago given up hope of ever being 'normal'. Yet Elsa was content for things to carry on as they were. Her parents still loved and visited her, she could have chocolate whenever she wanted and her gloves helped contain her powers. But it was not to be. One sunny afternoon, when Elsa was only 14, the king and queen of Arendelle had boarded a ship, promising to be back soon. But when they eventually did return, it was in coffins.

Elsa's world shattered. The only people who knew about her powers, the only ones she could talk to, the only ones who she knew loved her despite everything, were gone. It felt as if her heart was being dragged down to the bottom of an icy lake. All the light in her world had disappeared. And naturally that was when the darkness took over.

It hurt, everything hurt. A dark shadow loomed over her as she cowered there in chains. She just wanted it to be over, for the pain to go away. She couldn't move. Her legs were unable to and the rest of her hurt when she tried.

He waved his hand in front of her face and a swirl of darkness appeared. It grew darker and darker. Then he suddenly blew it into her face. His breath reeked of death. Shee tried to blink away the granules of darkness, when she opened her eyes she saw a terrible sight...

Her family

dead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up with my face wet with tears and my body shaking.

"Hey, hey, its ok, you're ok." I heard.

Jack was crouched next to my bed. As soon as I looked at him, he quickly withdrew his hand that had been gently shaking my shoulder. And looking embarrassed, he asked "Nightmare?"

It still felt too real, well it was real. I couldn't breathe. It felt like all the air had been sucked out of my lungs. I took in big gasping breaths, trying to regain control.

But it was just too much. I didn't want to talk about it.

"It's ok you're safe here. I'll be just outside so don't worry. It's ok. It's ok"

He waited till I had calmed down a bit and then with a reassuring smile, he left.

I couldn't go back to sleep after that. But true to his word he stayed outside my door all night long.

---------------------------------------------

'Deep breaths Elsa, deep breaths, you can do it.' I told myself. I walked up to where Jack was and tapped him on the shoulder.

He turned around and I almost lost my nerve

"Oh, hi. Yeah, what's up?"

My carefully practiced words escaped me, all I good do was shyly hold out my gift for him. It was nothing special. Just a small paper flower. I hoped that he would understand the words behind it without me having to explain.
