Different kind of beautiful / Larys Strong / Vaera Targaryen out now!
"Hello Vaera." Cersei still treated her like a child. Cooed down to her. Babied her. She lost her eyes she didnt stay a child forever. Like peter pan.
"Hi Cersei," vaera hugged her tight. "I missed you."
"Im so glad you are coming with us sweetie. It will give us time to catch up. For tommen and Myrcella to get to know better." Cersei agreed. "Here me reintroduce you-" cersei waved her children over. Gregor watched them cautiously. "Tommen-"
"Mama tells me all about you Auntie Vaera. Can you see me?"
"No. I cant but you sound adorable." Vaera assured. Tommen hugged her and vaeras heart swelled.
"Can you see me?" Myrcella questioned
"All i see is darkness." Vaera corrected.
Cersei's smile fell, but Vaera kept a smile on her face as her head turned before their little breaths.
"But you have eyes... I sort of thought that..." Myrcella stopped herself when Cersei put a hand over her mouth.
"My eyes just dont work." Vaera countered. "But I have been stitching a lot, I made you both hats for the journey!" Vaera added.
"You are able to knit without your eyes?" Myrcella questioned.
"I'm sorry, Vaera.' Cersei whispered.
"It's alright," Vaera assured. "Ser Gregor..." She requested her head turning hoping to hear his footsteps. "I had to learn how to do things again, without my sight... Ser Gregor?"
"Here." He touched her arm and she leaned into him.
"Can you bring me to my chambers, I want to get the gifts I made for the children." Vaera informed him.
"You are so sweet Vaera."
"I dont want anything from the blind girl." Joffrey countered.
"Joffrey!" Cersei scolded.
"What?" Joffrey demanded. "It's going to be lopsided and ugly."
"Then I guess she will never know if you dont wear it!" Robert laughed out. Cersei scowled back at them as Vaera tried to tune them out.
"You dont have to go." Gregor reminded her.
"I... wanted to." Vaera countered softly.
"You can change your mind, Vaera." Gregor assured.
"I just want to get my gifts for the children... they leave in the morning, I will decide then if I'm chickening out, Cersei will understand." Vaera whispered. She felt around her desk bumping things out of the way before the slumped to her knees.
"Vaera," Gregor rasped kneeling beside her.
"I'm a monster." Vaera whimpered.
"You are not." Gregor corrected. "You are perfect. Dont listen to them. Joffrey is a cunt, the king too. The kids are just kids, they dont understand." Vaera nodded as his arms wrapped around her. "I can kill him." Gregor added softly. Vaera smiled closing her eyes.
"Not yet." Vaera countered.
Vaera hesitated running her hand over her trunk as Gregor debated moving it to the carriages. Vaera had slept fitfully, she felt like she needed to go north, like something was waiting for her there.
"I'm going to be right beside you." Gregor assured her. Vaera nodded pulling her hand from the trunk. "You and me... we can turn around any time you want." he added.
"Thank you gregor. I want to eat something with father before we leave... can you make sure they dont leave without me?" Vaera questioned.
"Of course." Gregor agreed. "Oh..." he moved to the desk and grabbed her most recent project a circle blanket maybe or a sweater poncho. She felt her bag shift as he shoved her yarn in her bag and then her needles. "You are going to want that for the journey."
"I'm going to make you hat." Vaera added.
"I will wear it proudly." Gregor agreed. He lifted her trunk easily and let her walk before him as they headed out. Vaera almost ran into Tywin as he stood staring at a portrait on the wall.
"Daddy?"
"Oh my sweet girl, I'm sorry." Tywin declared holding onto her until she got her balance.
"What are you looking at?"
"Joanna..." Tywin admitted. "But the portrait of you when you were little, will always be my favorite, I'm going to stare at it endlessly while you are gone. You are going still?"
"I am." vaera agreed.
"Be careful my sweet girl, stay with Gregor and your siblings. If anyone and I mean anyone does anything to upset you, let Gregor know, he will handle them." Tywin added.
"Handle them?" Vaera countered.
"Yes." Tywin agreed after a heartbeat.
"I will be okay daddy." Vaera assured. But an hour outside of the rock Vaera wanted to turn around. Joffrey was so whiney. Myrcella wouldnt stop talking, Tommen was complaining about a tummy ache and was farting up the carriage.
Vaera had used to be a chatter bug and hated the silence but now she liked it. She liked having Gregor always beside her even if they have the need to speak.
"Oh and Vaera, the kids look so cute in their hats, they can't wait to wear them once it gets colder." Cersei added catching Vaera's attention.
"I'm so glad." Vaera added. "I... I have been working hard on my stitching, Gregor told me which onces looked best to for them."
"He's a dutiful guard." Cersei realized.
"He's also my friend." Vaera countered.
"Look at us, babysitting lannisters." Sandor scoffed. "What a life." he grumbled.
"Speak for yourself, pup." Gregor grumbled. "I like my girl."
"Gregor!" Vaera stuck her head out the carriage window calling to him.
"Duty calls." Sandor countered.
"You wish your duty was as cute as mine." Gregor spat back. Sandor rose a brow watching his brother veer off to the carriage. He helped Vaera onto his horse and Sandor thought he saw Gregor smile.
