"You can't take Gregor from me." Vaera corrected turning her head to them.

"Vaera-"

"I need him." Vaera corrected.

"You know how to get around well enough without him." Cersei countered. "Besides, it was fathers orders."

"No- NO!" Vaera corrected reaching for her sister. "I need him!" Cersei took a step back and Vaera stumbled forward catching herself on the chair. "You see?"

"There is a war, you like Tyrion, Catelyn took him. Father is trying to get him back, needs his mad dog."

"Don't talk about him like that." Vaera snapped back. "He's my friend." He was more than just a friend.

"Vaera father needs him to, you have me. He is going to get Tyrion back... you love Tyrion, he needs Gregor's help to get him back." Cersei reminded her. Vaera sighed glancing to Gregor beside her.

"I will be back." Gregor assured.   Vaera turned to his voice. Her lips pouted she didnt want him to leave but she understood, her father and Tyrion needed him more than she needed him looking out for her. "I will be back, I promise." Gregor assured grabbing her hand gently.

Promise.

"Is daddy coming here at all?" Vaera pondered.

"No, he is busy and Gregor doesnt need a baby sitter." Cersei countered.

"But..."

"No buts." Cersei corrected. "We will have fun you and I."

"I dont like your flock, they gawk at me." Vaera murmured.

"How can you tell?" Cersei countered.

"Everyone does and Gregor punches them." Vaera answered. "Then I hear their whines of discomfort and pain and its only because he cares about me." Vaera assured sensing Cersei's face shift. "He is a good friend, he was there for me for years!" Vaera declared.

"I know." Cersei assured. "And he is a good man to have in your corner but father needs him now."

"I understand," Vaera assured. "i just dont like it. I wish I could duplicate him."

"You would be the only one." Cersei countered. "Come on I can switch sandor, his brother to your guard it will be just Gregor is still here." Cersei added.

"M'lady." Sandor remarked.

"You dont have to guard me." Vaera assured. "Your brother is still here."

"It gets me out of dealing with the king." Sandor countered. Vaera chuckled softly.

"He really is- are we alone?"

"Aye." Sandor agreed confused.

"He is really awful." Vaera went on. Sandor understood. It would take some getting used to guarding her and having to be her eyes but if Gregor could do it and manage to get the little lady to like him even, sandor was golden.

"Aye, so I will be glad for the company that isnt barking at me all day."

"What are you doing pup?" Gregor demanded, his voice booming and Vaera jumped. "You are scaring her."

"Me?" Sandor growled.

"You." Gregor agreed. "Go away before I break something." Sandor marched off ramming his shoulder into Gregor as he passed.

"Cersei asked him to see me." Vaera remarked when Gregor settled.

"I told that bitch," Gregor grumbled.

"She is just concerned about me." Vaera offered. "She knows how much I rely on you and wants me to be looked after. "

"I told her you didnt need the hound."  Gregor corrected.

"He's your brother." Vaera countered. "He's family."

"He's a cunt."

"You say that about everyone." Vaera corrected reaching back until she found the edge of her chair and took a seat.

"Aye well..." Gregor murmured sitting beside her.

"You are not my baby sitter, Gregor." Vaera reminded him before he left.

"What?" Gregor countered.

"You are not- Cersei said that father wasnt coming to the capital because you dont need a baby sitter. But you are my friend and.... guard. But mainly my friend... my more than friend, my closest friend. My..."

'Vaera?"

"I just... I want you to be careful and I want you to come home." Vaera requested.

"I will. I promise. I'm a tough fucker to kill."

"I made you-" she felt around her bed until her fingers grasped it. "I dont know how far north you are going... you probably wont be needing another hat-"

"I got the last one from you already packed." Gregor assured, it would be something to hold onto that reminded him of Vaera. He liked the little smile on her face when he told her had her hat packed.

"Good but this... its silly but," he grabbed it from her.

"It's... pretty." Gregor offered.

"I made myself one too." Not marriage union but a union of sorts. Bracelet woven together from fine twine and string and yarns. "Like a promise, that you will come back and no matter how far you are, you always have me near." Gregor stared down at it, no one had given him something so thoughtful before. "It's silly you dont have to-"

"Put it on." Gregor countered laying his large arm in her lap. Vaera fumbled with the strings when she found his wrist, his fingers stroking along her leg as she tied the knot. "Perfect. I always got my vaera with me." Gregor rasped in her ear and she felt butterflies shoot down between her legs.
