"Well struck..." Joffrey remarked softly before a wicked smile curved his face. "Well struck, Dog." Joffrey shouted. Sandor removed his helmet. Joffrey turned to Sansa. " Did you like that?"
"It was well struck, Your Grace." Sansa agreed.
"I already said it was well struck." Joffrey sneered. Sandor looked between them with a groan. "What of you blind girl?"
"It sounded very loud." Vaera answered. Blind girl had been joffrey's nickname for her. She had been called worse but her lack of sight didnt define her.
"You hear that? It sounded loud!" Joffrey laughed out. Sandor put a hand on Vaera's shoulder, she had gotten used to his looming presence occasionally. She turned her head towards him.
"Did you win?" Vaera questioned gently as two men dragged the man away, leaving behind a trail of blood. She heard the body being moved, heard the slosh of blood being moped up as well.
"Who's next?" Joffrey questioned.
"Aye, I won." Sandor agreed.
"Lothor Brune, freerider in the service of Lord Baelish." The announcer gestures to a man, who then walks over. "Ser Dontos the Red of House Hollard." The announcer gestures in the opposite direction, but no one came forward. ''Ser Dontos the Red of House Hollard!" The announcer yelled out now.
"I think I might retire, its so hot out and Gregor never liked me coming to these things." Vaera admitted.
"I wonder why." Sandor scoffed.
"Because its dangerous." Vaera answered ignoring his sarcastic tone.''
"He's dangerous." Sandor corrected.
"Not to me." Vaera objected.
"Here I am." Dontos stumbled down some stairs, awkwardly clutching his helmet and weapon. "Here I am." he repeated as he dropped his helmet. "Sorry, Your Grace." he offered as he put his helmet on backwards. "My deepest apologies." he went on putting his helmet on correctly this time.
Vaera didnt want to say it but if she could tell this man was drunk, surely joffrey could as well. She sunk back in her seat trying to hide from the sun.
"Are you drunk?" Joffrey demanded and Ser Dontos took off his helmet to formally address the king.
"No. Uh, no, Your Grace. I had - I had two cups of wine."
"Two cups?" Joffrey questioned and Dontos nodded. "That's not much at all". Joffrey gestures to some wine before him. "Please, have another cup."
"Are you sure, Your Grace?" Dontos countered.
"Yes, to celebrate my name day." Joffrey agreed a wicked smile on his face. "Have two, have as much as you like."
"Sandor do you think I could go?" Vaera questioned. "Could you help-"
"You will stay and witness!" Joffrey shouted back at Vaera, her lips sealed shut. "Ser Meryn, help Ser Dontos celebrate my name day. See that he drinks his fill." Joffrey sniggered out.
'You can't!' Sansa sputtered, Vaera heard the man choking, heard the excess wine spilling from his throat as he thrashed coking for breath and losing.
''What did you just say? Did you just say I can't?' Joffrey questioned. Vaera hated Joffrey, he was always a problem. Sansa treated Vaera like she was an enigma however so she really didnt feel bad for sansa being engaged to Joffrey still. They were bot rather annoying little shit heads.
'I just mean that would be bad luck to kill a man on name day.' Sansa clarified nervously. Vaera had not heard that but why would she have? She was never killing anyone on her name days.
