"Forget about me?" I turned to face myself, the blank canvas, her plain clothes hanging loosely from her average frame.

The world around me had seemingly vanished leaving us now alone in the void.

"I think you've gotten a bit distracted by the details and have been missing the big picture." Her voice was even, untouched by pitch.

I crossed my arms over my chest, "I have no idea what I'm even supposed to be doing when I do see this song book."

She seemed confused now, taking a step closer and she poked me hard in the chest, "You need to find yourself within the book and that's all I know. She can see things in her drawings that we can't and that's what she told me we needed to do."

"Who is she?" I questioned getting more confused by the second.

She closed her eyes, I could feel her patience wearing thin "Our soulmate, she said we need to find ourselves within the song book. It's a blue notebook that Blake doesn't go anywhere without but she said she doesn't know what's written inside."

"That's extremely unhelpful." I grumbled glaring back at her, "How do we even know it's a song book?"

She let out a low irritated sigh, rubbing her fingers along the bridge of her nose, "You are focusing on the wrong details."

"Look I'm trying!" I exclaimed, crossing my arms tighter over my chest.

She let out a half snort as she leaned in close, her blank stare sending a chill down my spine, "No you're not. You're so focused on Devin that you're going to ruin your chances with Carter."

That name made every fiber of my being seemingly catch flame.

"Who is Carter?" I asked breathlessly.

She bit her lip and shook her head, "You'll never know if we don't succeed before times up."

Before I could even reply she shoved me back hard and I felt a wave of deja vu hit me as I fell into the darkness. I reached out trying to grasp something but just flailed as I fell endlessly through the uniform emptiness. The wind breezed through my hair, a dimness outlining the scene before me in such vivid abruptness I nearly swerved right off the road.

"Can you please slow the fuck down!" Devin's voice screeched out as we flew down the interstate.

I gripped the wheel tighter, "I wouldn't even be driving if you hadn't gotten sloppy drunk at the party!"

"I already told you I was sorry!" She exclaimed, hiccuping directly after and causing me to grit my teeth.

I laughed dryly, feeling anger course through me like I'd never felt before, "Yeah and you said you were sorry for flirting with those girls too so I guess it just makes everything fine."

"I wasn't flirting with them!" She yelled back.

I shook my head, "You certainly were being an ass either way."

Headlights from the other side of the yellow lines shone brightly as I squinted slightly as they passed. The light faded and I now stood in a tightly packed living room carrying two red solo cups up high as I tried to make my way through the crowd. I spotted Devin talking rather intimately with some girls, one even being so daring as to have their hand on her shoulder. I felt a pang of jealousy hit me like a punch to the stomach but mentally reminded myself that at the end of the night she was leaving with me, not them.
