From the day he brings his new born girl home a father lives in fear someday she'll get hurt. That someday she'll hate him and worst of all that someday she'll grow up.

Layla walked in the Humphreys loft.

"No, I'm good. Thanks I'll eat at school." Jenny said leaving.

"I'll see you at 4:15, on the dot." Rufus replied.

"School, home, school, home. I get it."

"Hey Jenny, Bye Jenny" Layla said as Jenny left.

"Layla!"

"Hey Rufus, I just came by to get a few more of my things"

"You didn't have to move out you know"

"I thought it was best, plus Chuck is letting Sophie and I stay with him. Its easier with Sophie that way and she's not going back and fourth."

"Well that's nice of him."

"Yeah, its sort of weird because..."

"All the times you lived together in the past there was always something more?"

"Yeah"

"Well now you have Riley so you're good."

"Actually Riley and I broke up"

"Oh"

"Well I should grab those things" Layla said and walked into Jenny's room. She grabbed a box and started tossing things of her into it. She heard the front door open and then close.

"Lily, what are you doing here?" Rufus asked.

"I'm just checking in. How are things going with Jenny?"

Layla still didn't have a clue what was going on between the two but she hoped that they would fix it. They're her hope for the future.

"Oh, we have an understanding- She goes to school, she comes home. She does not date boys with bags of pills."

"Oh, I'm sure she's furious."

"The hulk was furious. There's no word for what Jenny is."
"Rufus, I need to ask you something."

She heard a phone ring and walked out into the living room with her box

"Layla darling" Lily said hugging her "How are you and Sophie doing?"

"Good"
"Where is the little angel?"

"She's at my mothers with Meg, a very nice Nanny that I'm sort of paying to sometimes babysit Sophie. She was the Nanny my mom hired last year"

"I see. Thank you for calling." Rufus said hanging up "Jenny didn't go to school this morning. Apparently, she's been cutting classes all week."

"She's a teenage girl. Cutting school to be with her boyfriend Isn't exactly criminal behavior." Lily replied.

"I guess I'm still holding out hope that somewhere underneath that mop of blond hair Is my little girl."

"She's just going through a rebellious phase. Every girl does it. I know I did, and Damien is that type guy that you rebel with." Layla said.

"Thanks for that Layla, but I don't think that's helping" Lily said.

"Thanks for being here. Lily."

"Oh, I'm glad I could be. And I'm willing to put the past in the past if you are. Rufus, we just need to talk."
