The next couple of days I was forcefully bedridden. They moved me in my old room in Rick's house and I felt at ease sleeping in my own bed. Everyone lined up one after another to see me or talk to me. But most of the time it was Negan. He made trips from the Sanctuary to Alexandria almost every day.

Daryl kept to himself whatever he wanted to say earlier and instead just sat quietly next to me. Carol made me cookies and freshly cold-pressed juice from the apple tree and she and Michonne stayed with me for hours as we talked so they could keep an eye on me.

Things were going fine, we were yet to deal with the Commonwealth and we first needed to take care of stuff inside of our four communities. Eugene took on the heavy duty of producing more ammunition because we needed every last bullet we could get. The leaders sat down and discussed all the ins and outs of the situation, made plans. Negan made a pact with the other leaders, promised to stop taking provisions and lift the heavy boot of his tyranny from them. Instead, he even offered to give some much-needed things back which came in handy for all of us. They started exchanging guns and food, some other stuff. Negan told me that his people were also excited about trading with the other communities. Even if some of them weren't, they didn't dare to stand against their leader and the new rules. And for those Saviors who enjoyed the violence, he made sure to incite them against the Commonwealth and redirect their blood-thirst away from us, their former enemies. He was good at these things. The communities were finally united. Allies. We were allies. Against all odds and differences, pushing past relations and problems aside. Past fights, past conflicts. The whole past itself. I knew it could work out. It was just what I wanted and what I hoped for.

Facing a new enemy bonded the Saviors, Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom. There was still some tension present, especially between Negan and Maggie, but they both pushed it aside for the time being.

They found out who the snitch was and it came as no news to me. Christian. He was sent to the Sanctuary by Pamela Milton to infiltrate and gather information. Negan made sure he spilled every single detail and then proceeded to lock him up until he was needed again.

Rick, of course, was furious with me. I couldn't decide on what made him madder - the fact that I was in love with Negan or the fact that I didn't tell him. Or maybe the fact I disappeared without a word and came back bringing more problems. He took the parenting job really seriously and made clear he didn't approve of the so-called "boyfriend" not even one bit. I didn't blame him, in fact, I felt bad for not telling him. We sat down and talked for hours. I explained everything and how I didn't get a chance to spill this secret, because everything happened so fast. I confided in him how guilty I felt, how I thought I was betraying my family and friends. How I couldn't even believe myself that I fell for the adversary. He listened, albeit still furious. Then he said although he didn't approve of any of this, that he did know Negan truly cared, otherwise he wouldn't have done all that he did recently. The last thing he told me before exiting my room to let me sleep was "You told me you were going to end this one way or another. And you did. I just didn't expect it to be that way." I couldn't help but think the whole thing was beneficial for Rick and the rest as well, because the Saviors were no longer a threat, they were now allies. And all it took was me falling for the enemy and him falling for me. Love was really going to save the world, huh? Funny.

Negan spent almost all of his free time in my quiet room. He had a lot of work to do, starting with a huge scolding for Simon for not telling him what he did in the past, a lot going on with the communities, a lot of preparation for the attack. He was on the verge of his nerves but when he came to me he tried to not show any of this. Instead, he laid down with me and we talked for hours, until I fell asleep, safe in his arms. He even sometimes read me from my book, which I thought was so fucking adorable.
