[Read this with the song "Valentine, by Laufey"
The story also jumps around a lot, so just read carefully, sorry lol.]

Ashlyn sat in the jeep, waiting for her dad to come back.
He insisted to stop at the store on the way home to buy Emma a valentine time card and gift.

Ashlyn had her boots on the dashboard, scrolling on her phone.
Music was playing on the radio, which didn't bother Ashlyn, as she wasn't listening to the lyrics.
But then the music started to sound different.. more of a.. jazz vibe.

I've rejected affection for years and years.
Now I have it, and damn it, it's kind of weird.
He tells me I'm pretty, don't know how to response
I tell him that he's pretty too—

Ashlyn sat up quickly and paused the music.
She stared dumbfounded at the radio.

Odd. Since when did her dad listen to romantic music.
She used to thumb to press the play button, listening to the lyrics.

—can I say that? Don't have clue.
With every passing moment, I surprise myself, I'm scared of flies, I'm scared of guys,

Ashlyn chuckled at that part. Seemed like something Taylor would say.

Someone please help.
'Cause I think I've fallen in love this time,
I blinked and suddenly I have a valentine.

Ashlyn laid back in her seat, staring at her phone screen that was black.
Although she didn't want to, but she continued to listen to the rest of the cheesy love song.

Although, by the end of it, she was rudely interrupted by her dad aggressively trying to open the back door of the jeep.
Ashlyn unlocked it, turning around in her seat to look at him.

"What?"

"Why were you trying to break into your own car so aggressively?" Ashlyn asked.

"Why are you listening to a romance song?" He asked back.
Ashlyn narrowed her eyes at him.
"I thought we went over about what music you liked. You expressed it very clearly that you hated love songs."

"It was just on the radio." Ashlyn turned around in her seat.

"And you didn't change the channel?" Mike closed the back door, and went to the drivers side, opening that and getting in.

"Just drive." Ashlyn instructed, going back to her phone.

Ashlyn tightened her hands on her bag as she stood and waited for her group in Mr. Thomas's class.

Everyone was wearing either red or pink.
But her—she didn't have any.

One by one, she saw Logan, then Ben—followed by Aiden, and lastly the twins.

"Hey Ash!" Aiden went to go sit on her desk.
"No pink? Or red?" Aiden grabbed the sleeve of her t-shirt.

He's always so touchy.
Ashlyn looked at his hand, then at him.

"No." She slump back in her chair.
Aiden was wearing a surprisingly bright pink t-shirt.
Blinding even.
Ashlyn took noticed to both the twins wearing a softer shade of pink, and Logan and Ben wore both red.

"Only one not wearing red or pink." Aiden commented.
"I've got a sweatshirt if you want it."

"Aiden, really?" Tyler looked up from his phone.
"She's not going to take it."

Ashlyn looked at him.

"And who says I won't?"

"It's you."
