I woke up with a jump. I was lying in bed and tears were in my eyes. I wiped them away hurriedly, looking out of the window. The moon was up, shining down on the water. I could see São Feng through my window, he was looking at the gates. They stayed locked always, I get out through the window, over the roof. There was no way I was going to get out without São Feng seeing me there. I threw on my old trousers, a blouse and a dark green coat. I grabbed my pistol and sword, ready to fight.

I slipped out the door, leaving the disgusting dress that São Feng gave me on the floor. I stayed in the shadows and tried to get to the gate through the courtyard where São Feng was. Halfway through he hadn't seen me but right next to the gate I heard him behind me, making me jump out of my skin.

"What do you think you're up to?" He whispered in my ear.

I carried on walking, but my hand curled around my sword handle.

"You are a lady," he said sternly, wheeling me around to face him. I glared at him. "You should be wearing your dress."

I growled in my throat, his hand was edging towards my waist. He took one look at my face and then with drew his hand.

"I am leaving," I said, my voice trembling slightly. He raised his eyebrows.

"Thanks for having me, letting me stay and that but I think I'd better get home."

His eyes narrowed and he said, "You can't go. I won't let you."

I let go of my sword handle and drew my fist back.

"You'll have to let me."

"I can't," he hissed. I sprung my arm forward, punching him in the gut.

I ran to the gate and began to climb up it. At the top I looked behind me. São Feng was sunk on the floor, his eyes gazed at me.

I glared at him. "Lady my arse!" I yelled.
