I stirred. My eyes flickered and focused the scene. My body seemed to be swaying, I tried to move my hand but it wouldn't obey my mind. Suspicion growing in my mind, I tried to get up but yet again it didn't work. I jerked my wrists and suddenly felt the reason for my static position. A tight rope was bound around my wrists. Typical.
I moved my fingers up and down, trying to get a hook on a bit of rope. When I finally did, I tugged and it very gradually came grinding off. I got up, rubbing my wrists and looked around.
I was in a small cabin, with a tiny bed and table. The thing I had been lying on was a makeshift hammock. On the table was a gun, sword and belt. My kidnappers hadn't even thought to get rid of all weapons, let alone putting them in the same room. Idiots.
Suddenly I heard a grunt and whipped around. Lying on the grubby bed was a weak and sickly looking girl. Her eyes were closed and her hand curved lovingly around the bump in her stomach. A flash of memory forced her to my mind.
"Irina?" I Said questionably, walking steadily forwards.
Her eyes widened but she nodded, trembling slightly.
"Where am I?"
She swallowed and spoke in a horse whisper. "The Black pearl."
I guess I already knew. Brilliant. Out to sea in my dad's ship, not wanting to be there. Just brilliant.
Irina gasped as her stomach contracted.
I felt my eyebrows crease. "Are you okay?"
"It hurts," she whispered.
"Can I help?"
"No."
I walked over to her and pulled the blanket more securely around her. Then I took off my coat and put it on her shoulders and laid her down carefully to rest. I turned to leave but Irina grabbed my hand.
"Don't go," she whimpered.
"Aye, alright."
She fell asleep quickly, her hand still holding mine.
