The boys walked into the building, staying shoulder to shoulder as their shoes briskly hit the marble floors in perfect sync. "Has he heard?"

"That's why we're here. I feel like we need to keep our mouths shut."

"And when he finds out on his own, and then realizes we knew, then what? I don't know about you but I'd rather not beef with our cousin. You see what happened to August." Malachi twirled the toothpick in his mouth, turning around to face the entrance of the building when he stepped into the elevator.

"JB will ruin everything, M." Maddox grumbled to himself, flexing his fingers. "He's been... you haven't seen him. I wouldn't have come back to you if I didn't need you." He said softly. "And I wish you didn't have to leave."

"Now that I know you're okay, I'll be fine." Mal said, both of them standing with their hands in front of their torso's as their blue eyes pierced the elevator doors. "As for Jabari... I'll have to see for myself."

The deafening tone of the elevator beeping made Malachi wince slightly once they stepped off into the red and black penthouse. Maddox and Jabari's new safe-house.

The twins looked around the pitch black house and immediately grabbed each other's hands. "I can't smell him." Malachi whispered lowly. "I can't feel him."

"I haven't been able to feel him since Ares died." Maddox whispered back, he held his breath. "It's like he died with him. He's learned to conceal himself just like Reese did. I think he's here."

"No, I don't-"

The twins stood up straight immediately and squeezed each other's hands when they turned their heads and saw light from the moon shining down the pitch black hallway landing on brown eyes, making them glow.

"Bari?" Malachi let go of Maddox's hand and watched as Jabari stepped out from the hallway, turning the living room light on. "Oh my God, you're okay." He whispered and rushed over to him, wrapping his arms around him tightly.

Jabari remained silent and kept his arms at his side, staring blankly at Maddox who stared back. "We needed him, Junior. He has something to tell you."

Maddox and Malachi watched as Jabari gently pushed through them and went further into the living room. He twirled Ares' lighter in between his fingers, grabbing the blunt from their tray and lighting it with it. He turned back to them and raised his eyebrows briefly, waving his hand.

"At home... something happened." Malachi said hesitantly. "To, to Onyx."

Jabari took a pull from his blunt and looked down, about to grab the ashtray until Malachi kept talking. "And Phoenix."

Maddox pressed his lips together when Jabari's movements abruptly ceased. The only movement came from the thick smoking emitting from the blunt. "They were attacked last night. Jace said neither of them will speak, they..."

"Phoenix killed somebody, Jabari. She had to." Maddox ripped the band aid off and Jabari's eyes quickly met with his. "It was either she killed him, or they would've died but... that doesn't explain how they ended up the way they did."

"They were tied up by tape together on the couch. Mouth covered, eyes as well, Jace told me their heads were slumped down, we thought they were dead at first." Malachi's voice slightly wavered, hearing the screams of his best friend in his ear while she cried for Phoenix.
