"Have you heard from Amon and Phe?" Jabari asked, walking into Onyx's room. He plopped down on his bed, looking away as Onyx pulled his shirt on.
"Yeah, I just saw heard from them yesterday actually, they were checking in on me." Onyx grinned widely, hearing from his favorite people was the highlight of his day.
But everyone else couldn't say the same thing. Especially Ares and Amir.
Jabari heard from them twice separately and that was it. After everything went down, it was like they just fell off of the face of the earth without warning. At first he thought he might've done something to cause it but after their strong reassurance, he let it go and realized everything wasn't about him.
Amir still lived his day to day life and when it was brought to his attention by Jabari, he didn't even notice anything until he said something. Even then, Amir didn't care and stayed under Onyx.
Ares on the other hand knew of their absence and he felt it even more. He was trying his hardest to not take it personally because he knew it wasn't truly about him but he couldn't help it. He missed his siblings and to know that they were blatantly ignoring him, angered him.
On the outside, just to her own knowledge, Madison knew exactly where they were and what they had going on. Surprisingly enough, Amon was the one to reach out to her first to tell her that he proposed. He wasn't ready to speak to the family and he honestly felt like it wasn't their business anymore to begin with.
He knew that Madison wouldn't tell anyone and as Phoenix and Madison repaired their relationship, so did Amon and Madison.
If the three of them weren't on the phone, they met up at Amon's place or at some random restaurant because they all loved to eat.
Despite the current excitement, Phe couldn't help the somber feeling in her chest every time she looked down at the rock on her hand. She wanted so desperately to tell Ares, especially because out of everyone, Ares always rooted for his brother and Phoenix the hardest.
She wanted to squeal with joy when she told Jabari, and possibly cry with Onyx because he was just that emotional. But she also wanted to respect Amon's feelings and boundaries, nobody else took the time to.
Though, she didn't quite understand the issue between Onyx and Amon and Mo wasn't going to try and force her to. Onyx and Amon were a complex situation and he told her himself that he'd never put her in a position where she'd have to choose between him or her brother because it was never that deep. It was just something they had to figure out on their own.
