Malachi laid back, soothingly rubbing Phoenix's back as she finally fell asleep. It had been a couple days since Onyx up and left and Amon broke up with her.

It was like she kept losing the people she loved one by one, and she didn't realize how much it hurt to grieve people that were still alive.

School was the last thing on Phoenix's mind but because she had such a tight and loving circle, Malachi and Jocelyn made sure to get her work and do it for her. They helped her maintain her 4.0 average on top of their own. They loved that girl to pieces and would do anything to make her happy, especially because they knew she'd do the same for them.

"I'm so sorry this is happened to you amor." Mal whispered sadly, watching her lightly breathe as she clung on to her pillow and him. "You don't deserve this, none of you deserve this." He mumbled, moving some of the hair out of her face.

Malachi loved Phoenix as what she was supposed to be, a friend. But she slowly became family over the course of their friendship, he could feel what she felt, he was heartbroken for her.

To Malachi, the root of the problem was two innocent souls falling in love with each other. It shouldn't have come to this, it shouldn't have come to Ares dying. Onyx shouldn't be afraid to face his problems, he shouldn't be running away from them either. It shouldn't have come to Amon having to choose between saving the love of his life or being selfish by continuing to love her.

Watching Phoenix slowly hit rock bottom was killing him on the inside because he knew that there was only so much he could really do. The only person that would be able to get through to her right now was unfortunately dead. She was forced to feel this on her own.

"She's finally asleep." Jace whispered, walking into the room with Jocelyn holding his hand. She sadly frowned at her best friend, shaking her head.

"Excuse me." She sniffed and rushed out of the room, going to calm herself down. Jocelyn loved and cared about Phoenix just as much as Malachi did. She couldn't stand to see her in this position, she didn't deserve it.

It brought her to tears to even look at Phoenix, she hated herself for not being able to take her pain away.

Malachi sighed and Jace pressed his lips together, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "She's... not doing good either. Without Maddox here... she said everything was pointless."
