The aftermath.
Seven days after the mission.

Seattle, Washington.
UNEDITED.

Phoenix sat next to Onyx's hospital bed, her face stoic and dry. She slowly blinked as their hands were laced together, she clung on to him like he did his life.

She now knew what it felt like to be on the other side of the coin, Onyx had to endure her nearly dying, and now it was the same.

It was like no matter what they did to protect each other, one of them always ended up getting hurt. There was only so much the Volkan siblings could take and Phoenix was nearing the edge.

Far from snapping, but she just wanted to give up. The only bright side was finally getting rid of the ones that wanted to hurt her and her family but at what cost? Now she had to sit here and watch a machine breathe for her brother.

"Hey." Phoenix didn't even look up at the door, she just continued to stare at her and Onyx's hands. "I called your dad when we were on the way here, he uh, he didn't answer."

Jabari spoke as him and Ares walked into the room and sat down next to her, staring at the side of her face. She didn't respond, all she did was decide to look at Onyx's face.

"Bull outside with Amir. Chris and Carlos went to go get Archer, they should be here any minute now." Ares spoke up. "I called your father too this morning but nothing came of it. Don't even trip, his bitch ass doesn't even deserve-"

"Not right now, Ares." Jabari said softly, frowning when Phoenix still sat there silently.

Ares' face fell and he nodded, looking down at his hands. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to lighten up the mood." He cleared his throat and hesitantly looked at Onyx's face too.

All three of the Alsina brothers had the hardest time visiting Onyx and seeing him in that bed. They all felt like it should've been them and not their baby boy. Not their Onyx.

Even with all of the shit they had to endure, Onyx didn't bother anyone, all he did was stay in his sister's face and keep his family happy, it shouldn't have been him.

The only one out of the trio that did sit with Onyx was Amon. It was heavy but he wouldn't dare leave his best friend alone at a time like this. He often came alone or with Phoenix and when he did, he always spoke to him about the most random things.

The night prior, he had even played some new music that dropped by an artist he knew Onyx loved, just so he felt like he wasn't missing anything.

Ares would sometimes tag along throughout the day and if he did, he'd stay outside, listening in on the conversations everyone else had. He hated himself for this shit. It wasn't his fault but all he could think about was the last argument that they had.
