The moon before the last of 282 AC saw the double wedding of House Tully to Houses Stark and Arryn, Catelyn Tully wedded Eddard Stark, who had taken the place of his late brother Brandon, and her younger sister, Lysa Tully wedded Lord Jon Arryn, who had lost his heir and cousin during the Battle of the Bells and needed a young wife if House Arryn was to continue, a young wife known to be fertile.

Ned Stark lingered scarcely a fortnight with his new bride before he rode back off to war, leaving his wife pregnant with the promise of his return.

After the Battle of the Bells Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jon Darry of the Kingsguard were sent into the riverlands to retrieve the remnants of Lord Jon Connington's army, while the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Gerold Hightower, was sent by King Aerys II Targaryen to find Prince Rhaegar Targaryen

The last moon of the year was marked by the Siege of Storm's End, under the forces of Lord Mace Tyrell from the Reach, which was held by Stannis Baratheon, for the better part of a year.

It wasn't until the third moon of 283 AC that anyone set their sights on Prince Rhaegar Targaryen as he returned to King's Landing, without Ser Gerold Hightower. While everyone was glad to see the Prince alive and well, his kin were less than pleased with his prior actions.

Prince Viserys avoided his brother like he was the plague, glaring at him when he was in his presence and refusing to talk to the Heir to the Throne, Ashara acted much in the same manner that Prince Viserys Targaryen, preferring to stay with her son and around her Princess's children.

Surprisingly Elia and Rhaella were talking to him, as was the King, but he spent most of time shouting and berating him rather actually talking.

After attempting to convince his father to ask Lord Tywin Lannister for help, Rhaegar went to his chambers to talk to his wife, only to find her alone without the children. Despite speaking to her husband, Elia didn't allow Rhaegar to touch her, standing away from him, wearing the thickest clothes.

"I see you're still standing without any burns or cuts." Elia stated, staring at her husband from the other side of the long table of their chambers, one of her hands clutching a cup of wine that she'd poured before Rhaegar entered the chambers.

Rhaegar could tell by his wife's tone that she was displeased, which was something that he understood the reason behind. A sigh escaped his lips, and his hand ran through his hair and all he could do was sit in one of the chairs as Elia sipped her wine.
