What anyone could see for miles and miles in every direction was tall grass, and in a seemingly long wavy line was Khal Drogo's Khalassar, Daenerys Targaryen's Khalassar.
"You need to drink child." Jorah Mormont stated as he approached Daenerys on her white horse, "And eat." he added, reaching for one of the satchels on the side of the horse and pulling out a piece of horse meat jerky.
"Isn't there anything else?" Daenerys questioned as she looked at the jerky with a nauseous look on her face.
"The Dothraki have two things in abundance : grass and horses. People can't live on grass." Jorah explained, watching as the 13 year old Khaleesi bit into the horse jerky.
As she shewed on the jerky, Daenerys moved her violet coloured eyes over the vastness of grass, Jorah following her eyes with his eyes own.
"The Shadow Lands beyond Asshai, they say there are fields of ghost grass with stalks as pale as milk that glow in the night. It murders all other grass. The Dothraki believe that one day it will cover everything. That's the way the world will end." he declared, not missing how Daenerys looked interested in the location he was talking about.
That was before Khal Drogo crossed Daenerys's line of sight, making the young girl stare at him with an unreadable expression on her face.
"It'll get easier." Jorah offered, Daenerys looked at Jorah for a moment after his words, but it was clear that she didn't believe him. How could she? Especially when every man in her life thus far had lied to her face or never told her the whole truth, with a deep inhale, more so to gather strength, Daenerys ordered her horse to start following the others once more.
It was hours later when the Khalassar finally came to a halt, a few tents having already been built by the first members of the Khalassar that arrived at the location.
"We're still not far from Pentos, your Grace. Magister Illyrio has extended his hospitality. You'd be more comfortable there." Jorah said to Prince Viserys after helping Daenerys off her horse.
"I have no interest in hospitality or comfort." Viserys countered, looking rather disgusted that Jorah offered him to stay back, away from his sister and the only way to get the army he so desperatly craved. "I'll stay with Drogo until he fulfils his end of the bargain and I have my crown."
Jorah could so clearly see the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms in her younger brother, the same facial reactions to things, the same high and mighty air that they exuded, although, the last time that he saw the Queen, she looked more tired that high and mighty.
