He was at an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town. The 15 minute drive there was agony. Shawn just held my hand as I held my breath. Even with the anger, the fear, I still loved him. Even if we never could've fixed our marriage, even if I'd moved on, I loved him.

We saw the smoke as we got there. The warehouse was slowly smoldering, a bomb looked like it had gone off. My door was open before the car was even in park. I didn't think, I just ran holding Lassiter's pistol. Everything in me was desperate to find him. The calls of my family were being drowned out by the blood rushing in my ears.

I scanned everything as I went. Looking for any signs of Elliot. My mind was running through what might have happened desperate for a lead. Shawn had been honing my observation skills but I couldn't figure it out. The sounds of fire trucks and ambulances behind me were blending together as I felt Shawn's hand on my shoulder.

"His truck is over there, come on." He nearly shouted pulling me by the arm as we ran. Shawn was right, there he was a few yards away up against a lamp post.

"Elliot!" My voice was breaking as I sprinted. He Was in bad shape. Shrapnel was lodged in his shoulder, he had taken a bullet to the abdomen, he had what looked like a broken ankle, and a nasty head wound. But he had a pulse. "Hey, Elliot stay with me, come on wake up you son of a bitch."

"Help! We're over here! Help!" Shawn screamed as Lassiter came running full speed.

"Wake up you god damn asshole!" I shouted as I slapped him. His eyes opened as he smiled, blood staining his lips.

"I told you not to come." He coughed weakly still smirking.

"You're lucky she's stubborn." Shawn tried to muster a smile while pressing his jacket against Elliot's stomach. "Help me lay him down."

"Lassie, tell me those ambulances are driving towards us, he's lost a lot of blood." I asked as I kept my finger on his pulse.

"They're here, Shawn move let me do it." Lassiter commanded taking over for him. "You worry about your girl I've got him."

Shawn pulled me back as the ambulance doors opened. The EMT's were finally coming to help. Lassie pulled Elliot's marshal badge from his pocket holding it up to the EMT's as he looked back at me.

"He's a cop, make sure the ER knows he's a cop." Lassiter gave me a look like he knew the truth, but in that moment, he didn't care.

They loaded him in as I sobbed. Shawn never let go as Nate walked up. Lassiter got in the ambulance with Elliot while Nate and Shawn tried to get me to breathe.

"He's been through worse." Nate  tried to reassure me as Shawn just kept kissing my head desperate to calm me down.

"He's going to die." I croaked out through sobs. I could feel it, this was it.

"No he's not, get in the truck, we're going to the hospital." Shawn confidently declared as he pulled me up. He held onto me as he walked me to it. Nate nodded to him as he walked back to the challenger. Thankfully the keys were in the ignition. Shawn had the truck in gear before I even got a seatbelt on.

Juliet gave us a police escort as we flew down the road to the hospital. A photo of me and Elliot on the visor caught my eye, the sight of it only made me cry harder. It was clear Shawn's heart was breaking every time he looked at me. I hated it, I hated everything about this moment.

"He's going to make it, you two will figure it out Kara." He quietly uttered as I tried to calm down.

"He's not my pillow fort and I don't know what to feel anymore." I whimpered out as I tried to breathe.
