Watching Elliot rock the girls to sleep will never stop being beautiful to me. The past three months have been chaos. I'm exhausted and over all of it, but he's been a saint. I'm not a super mom, I'm tired and I'm cranky and a little resentful. But he doesn't hold it against me. He's up every two hours making bottles, changing diapers, he's the perfect dad.Parker and Hardison have been taking Beth under there wings, despite my best effort, she wants to be just like us. It's been good for her though. She finally feels like she belongs.
There's definitely still a lot of baggage between Elliot and I, but we're working it out, some how we're going to make it. We renew our vows in a couple days, Juliet has been insisting that they can babysit so we can take a proper honeymoon. Her and Shawn have been great with them so I really don't mind. Juliet has been my saving Grace.
Even today, the last of our wedding planning. We have flowers set up, we have food planned, Elliot's family gets into town tonight, the last thing is my dress. Juliet has been panicking, I keep telling her that it's fine, that I'll buy something off the rack, and that's not a good enough answer for her. So today we're trying on dresses at every boutique in town.
"Juliet, I have a confession." I sheepishly admitted stepping out of the dressing room.
"You've hated every dress you've tried on?" She asked sipping from the glass of Champaign they brought out.
"Yeah, this one shows the scars on my back and I don't want those in my wedding photos. Everything is strapless, and backless, you were right. I fucked up." I sighed in defeat staring at the mirror. "Thrift stores? Maybe we can find something vintage."
"Mom you look beautiful even with the scars. Right aunt Parker?" Beth nudged get trying to get some backup. Parker nodded her head before picking up a champagne glass.
"I could steal one for you?" Parker asked before she chugged the flute of Champagne looking at Sophie for approval.
"Parker, no. We can check the charity shops if you want." Sophie gave me a little smile. I felt bad dragging her around since she was so close to her due date already. I know she's miserable.
"Okay, I'm going to get out of this thing and we can go hunting. At least all of you have your dresses." There was a wave of relieved nods as they all stood up. This was hard, I'd never really thought about this part, I never thought it would be hard until it was time.
We had no luck, I found a dress I liked but it wasn't a wedding dress. It was a dress fit for Morticia Addams, I would've gotten it, but that was me and Shawn's thing so it seemed wrong. Instead I surrendered to hoping the dress we originally got married in still fit.
Juliet was so upset when we got home, she went straight to her room to try and make a plan. This wedding had been her baby and I know she was more concerned than I was. I wasn't sure how to help.
When I walked into the kitchen though, I found Elliot with his family eating homemade pizza. I could see Will and Forest in the backyard playing with Nate and Hardison, Beth quickly ran out to join them blowing past everyone without even a hello.
"Teenagers man." Elliot chuckled shaking his head. "Any luck?"
"Nope, I'm going to go hope my elopement dress fits still." I let out a sigh taking Elliot's beer from him.
"Come on upstairs, I have a possible solution." Sarah smiled taking my hand and pulling me along while the boys snickered.
We passed Shawn rocking the girls in the nursery, heading straight to the guest room they were staying in. When I walked in I saw two garment bags laying on the bed, confused I looked at Sara who had a big smile on her face.
