Elijah had been in a bad mood this December. He just couldn't fathom how the hell he wasn't getting anywhere with Ryujin? They went to Andrew's event together and then homecoming and since then, Ryujin seemed to forget all about it like she wants to refuse it ever even happened.
And he wants this girl, he's being so patient, he'd wait even longer, but he thought by now he'd get something, anything from her. He just hasn't. Every time he tries to spend time alone with her, she asks if Yeji will be there or she invites Yuna.
What was he doing wrong?
"No matter what I do, Yeji! I'm not getting anywhere!" Elijah complained to his best friend, helping the teachers load all of the luggage under one of the big buses on its way to the airport for the trip to Aspen, Colorado.
The brunette helped as well, trying her hardest, like she's been doing, to keep Eli going in this. She still thinks that Ryujin likes him, she just doesn't know why she won't let him make a move on her!
"Just give it time! She likes you, believe me! Remember when she told me her type? It was literally you and she blushes every time I tease her about it. She blushes like crazy, so just chill. She'll come out of her shell in no time, E."
"But I mean, the ball, homecoming, fall break and nothing!"
For fall break, they all went up to Yuna's beach house and stayed there. It wasn't just them, Elijah brought some of his football friends and Yeji brought some of her friends from outside the school.
That break was not what Elijah had hoped. He hoped that he would finally get to confess to Ryujin, but Ryujin was just in such a prissy mood the whole time and he didn't know why. She wouldn't tell anybody. Yuna probably knew though.
The beach house was vibrant with teen spirit, loud music shaking the walls and illegal booze spread across the kitchen island.
All night, Ryujin had noticed just how close Yeji was to one of her friends that she invited. Some friend... she was practically staring at her lips all night and Ryujin remembered her from the movie theater.
No one seemed to notice the way they were talking to one another and refusing to sit anywhere but right beside one another. And in the middle of the night's fun, they disappeared.
"Have you seen Yeji?" Ryujin asked Yuna, they were taking body shots in the living room."They aren't upstairs, I was just looking for them. Try the backyard?" Yuna suggested, nodded her head towards the double glass doors behind her across the house.
"Ok. Is anyone else out there?"
Yuna shrugged, "I dunno. Wahhh! Shot! Shot! Shot!" Yuna cheered for the girls drinking off of one of the football players.
Ryujin sighed, heading to the backyard doors. She hoped Yeji was out here alone so they could spend some time together.
But she didn't even have to open the door, she could see through and in the pool. Two girls viewing the beach view, still clothes but soaking wet, resting their chins on their arms that were resting outside the pool.
It was evident Yeji was smiling and laughing at whatever the black haired girl was saying. She looked so in love with her. Was she in love with someone else already?
Ryujin's heart got caught in her throat, her stomach dropped. She had never seen Yeji smile at her like that. Yeji stared at the girl and smiled so big, she was so entertained by her presence.
When the black-haired girl looked over at Yeji, she smiled at the fact that Yeji was already staring at her. She seemed to giggle and say, "What?" As if asking why Yeji was staring at her like that.
