It was a haunting Sunday that would follow Elijah, his father, and his sister for the rest of their lives.

What was more heartbreaking to witness at a funeral? Seeing someone sob their everything out, or seeing someone try so hard to stay strong and keep the sobs in?

Elijah's father, Diondre, Elijah and Yeji were the types to keep it in. No matter how thick the tears got, no matter how much it ached their heads and throats. But his sister, Cora? It wasn't so easy for her. She had to let it out, she had to let the pain show.

A drunk driver on the wrong side of the highway, it was not her fault. Camilla King, it was not your fault.

Yeji furrowed her brows, to keep herself from crying, sitting right next to Elijah in the front row of benches at the church. The casket was closed.

She looked over at Elijah as his father gave a speech to everyone. The look in his eyes, he just looked so angry. Like he blamed himself somehow. Like he wanted to bring that drunk driver back to life and kill him himself.

Yeji held his hand and rested her head on his shoulder to comfort him, Camilla was like a second mother to her. A part of her has died too.

When Elijah felt one of Yeji's tears fall down onto their hands, he dropped his head to lay on hers and cried, clenching her hand tightly but not too tight.

It felt like just yesterday she was making him breakfast and calling him by childhood nicknames he claimed he hated. Now he'll never hear them again.

The strong woman who raised him well, taught him respect, honor, honesty, responsibility, and loyalty, he will never see her again. She could never teach him anything ever again, she will never see him at his graduation or get married. She's not gone, but now they must be her life.

Ryujin was not here, she did not know Camilla, but she waited outside in Yeji's car so they could hopefully do something together to cheer him up right after if he wasn't going to spend time with his family.

"Hey... he's going to spend time with his family, huh?" Ryujin got out of Yeji's car once she saw the church clear.

"Yeah, they're doing the burial now. They said it was close family only and Diondre said I was expected to drop a handful of dirt. Just letting you know." Yeji said, her voice hoarse and her face red.

Ryujin has never seen Yeji cry until now, she's still beautiful.

"Here..." Ryujin went back into the car and got the pack of tissues from the glove compartment. She gave them to Yeji, who thanked her and used them.

"Are you going to the burial, dear?" Yeji's adopted mom, Carmen, said. Her adopted dad, Chungae, gave her a big hug.

Yeji nodded, "Yeah, D, said I'm more than welcome, so I'm gonna go. Are you guys gonna go now?" She sniffled, letting her mom fix her makeup for her.

"We are, we are going to make some Spanish, Mexican, South African, and Korean traditions and then light lanterns at the reservoir. Ryujin is more than welcome, any friend if Camilla's children was her friend too."

"Ryujin?" Yeji looked at the short one, thanking her mom for fixing her makeup for her.

"Yeah, I'll be there. Thank you, Mr and Mrs. Hwang."

"Of course, dear. Would you like to help us prepare it? We can drive you."

"Oh um... sure. I'd love to learn about it." Ryujin said, she thought that she could learn a lot from this and spread it to her baking class to make sweets that the other students haven't tried before.
