**Trigger Warning on this Chapter**
- Third Person POV -
The sun hangs low in the sky, casting darkening shadows across the training grounds as the day's training session comes to an end. Jordan hands the wooden practice sword back to Aden, offering him a smile of encouragement as he wipes the sweat from his brow. The young novitiate has shown remarkable progress over the past few weeks, his skill growing with each passing day. But as Aden thanks her and walks away, eager to join the other novices, the smile fades from the woman's face. She watches him go, a heaviness settling over her chest. The training sessions with Aden have become a routine to her, a part of her daily life. But every time they finish, Jordan finds herself weighed down by memories she has tried endlessly to bury deep within her.
It was the same today. As Aden disappeared into the distance, Jordan's shoulders slump slightly, her gaze dropping to the ground. She stands there for a moment, lost in thought, before turning to make her way back to her quarters.
But she doesn't make it far before a familiar presence intercepts her. Lexa stands in her path, her expression unreadable, though her eyes are sharp and observant.
- Jordan's POV -
"Jordan," Lexa calls gently, her voice pulling me from my thoughts.I look up, trying to muster a smile. "Lexa." I greet.
Lexa studies me for a moment, her brow furrowing slightly. "You've been quiet lately." She says, her voice soft but direct. "Especially after training with Aden. I've noticed your demeanor changes—your energy drops, and you seem... distant."
I feel a pang of anxiety tighten in my chest. I have hoped that would go unnoticed but I suppose I haven't done the best at masking it, but Lexa is too perceptive for that and I know it. "I'm fine." I reply quickly, maybe too quickly. "It's just... training is intense, that's all."
Lexa's gaze doesn't waver, and she takes a step closer, her voice low and filled with concern. "Jordan, I can see that something is weighing on you. I've told you you don't have to carry it alone. Talk to me."
I look away, my heart pounding in my chest. I want to confide in Lexa, to share the pain I have been burying for so long. But the memories are dark, and speaking them aloud feels like tearing open old wounds that have never fully healed.
Lexa reaches out, her hand gently cupping my jaw, guiding my gaze back. "Whatever it is, you can trust me." She says softly, her thumb brushing against my skin. "You don't have to hide from me."
I begin to crumble under Lexa's gentle touch, the tenderness in her voice breaking through the walls I have built around myself.
"Not here." I tell her, shaking my head with a trembling voice. She nods, the worry not leaving her expression as she leads me to my quarters right down the hall.
Once I've shut the door behind us, I just begin to let it out.
"Before I came to the ground, before I became part of Trikru... I was locked up as you know for a long time." Jordan began, her voice hollow as the memories surfaced. "I was twelve when things went highly unplanned."
Lexa listens intently as I take her hands, fidgeting with her fingers.
**Trigger Warning at this point**
"During my time in lockup, I..." I hesitate, the words catching in my throat. I close my eyes for a moment, gathering the strength to continue. "There was a guard that mistreated me and it wasn't... it wasn't something I had control over. The others didn't care about what happened to us in there. They just wanted to keep us locked away. One time in the middle of the night I awoke to find that I was... well I'm sure you can understand from there."
