- Jordan's POV -
I lay propped up on the bed, my body weak but stable for the moment, the IV drip fully drained beside me and I've taken the IV out myself. Lexa stands on the balcony, arms crossed tightly over her chest as she gazes out at the distant horizon, her mind far from at ease. It has been a long and difficult day, and the weight of what we face looms large.

The boys are resting against me, tired from the past few days but also unfortunately worried about me and scared for what's coming.

The door to the room creaks open, and both Lexa and I turn to see Clarke stepping inside, her face a mix of relief and concern. Feeling slightly more lucid, I offer a tired smile as she crosses the room.

"Hey." She says, her eyes scanning me, taking in my state. "Mom radioed me... she said I should come."

I nod slightly, my voice weak but warm. "I guess you do deserve to know, huh?"

Clarke manages a small smile as she sits at the edge of the bed. "You really can't catch a break, can you?"

I let out a faint laugh, the sound strained but genuine. "Seems like the universe isn't done throwing things my way. First getting shot, now this. Guess I should've hit the gun away before I tackled him, huh?"

Clarke shakes her head with a wry smile. "Or just not gotten in front of it in the first place. But that's you, isn't it? Always ready to take one for the team."

Lexa, who has remained quiet until now, steps closer to the bed, her eyes on me. Though she tries to remain stoic, Clarke and I  can see the fear in her gaze, the helplessness that gnaws at her.

I gently reach out, brushing Lexa's hand. "I'm feeling a little better for now." I assure my partner, though Lexa doesn't seem entirely convinced. "But I think you can ease up on the death watch. At least for today."

Clarke exchanges a glance with Lexa before looking back at Jordan. "Mom's doing everything she can, isn't she?" Clarke's voice is steady but there is a tremor of emotion beneath it.

I give a faint nod. "She ran the tests. It's lead poisoning... from when Titus shot me. Apparently, it's been in my system this whole time, just waiting to make its move. She's trying a chelation drug, something from Arkadia, bjt we don't know if my body is going to respond."

Clarke inhales deeply, letting the heaviness of the moment hang between us before speaking again. "We don't have much time left. You know what's coming." She looks between Lexa, the boys and I. "Raven's been working on something... a rocket. She thinks she can get it working again so a group can go up to the ring."

I furrow my brows. "A rocket?"

Clarke nods. "It's our only chance if we can't make it to the bunker. The death wave is coming, and the bunker will be full. You know that all of us are not going to fit down there... and even if we did, the radiation will be lethal for most." Clarke glances at Lexa before continuing. "But in space... we might have a chance. Raven's been working non-stop trying to get it operational, but it's a race against time."

I take a deep yet ragged breath, processing the gravity of Clarke's words. "So, the plan is... to send people back?"

"Yes." Clarke confirms. "But not everyone. Only a few of us that came to the ground." She swallows hard, her voice betraying how much the decision is weighing on her.

My eyes flicker between Clarke and Lexa. "And what about the bunker? Isn't that supposed to be the fallback?"

Clarke shook her head. "It's filling fast. The radiation is going to hit hard and fast. We'll need all the protection we can get."
