- Jordan's POV -
I stand by Lexa as the summit begins, a heavy atmosphere settling over the room. We watch as Clarke is escorted in by the guards, a Polis citizen singing a solemn song that underscores the political tension simmering beneath the surface.Clarke enters slowly, her gaze locked on Lexa, and they share a long, wordless look. The weight of the moment presses down on all of us as Clarke finally kneels before Lexa, her eyes dropping to the floor in submission.
A sense of unease floods through me as I feel the air in the room shift.
Roan is the first to kneel behind her, and the rest of us follow suit, my mother and Kane bringing up the rear.
"Hail, warriors of the twelve clans." Lexa's voice rings out, commanding and firm.
"Hail, Commander of the Blood." We all respond in unison.
"Rise." She orders, and we all stand, resuming our original positions. Lexa's gaze sweeps over the room, her voice steady as she continues. "We welcome Skaikru to our halls, in the spirit of friendship and harmony. And we welcome Clarke kom Skaikru, legendary Wanheda, Mountain Slayer. The purpose of this summit has changed. We are not here to negotiate a treaty with the Skaikru, but rather to initiate them into the coalition."
A ripple of confusion and frustration spreads through the room at Lexa's words.
"To symbolize this union, the leader of Skaikru must bear our mark." Lexa's voice is calm, but I can sense the undercurrents of tension beneath. I watch as my mother and Kane exchange a few whispered words, their concern evident. "Present your arm."
Kane steps forward, pulling back the sleeve on his right forearm. A guard steps forward and brands him with the heated metal rod.
Suddenly, the doors burst open, and I instinctively reach for the hidden daggers beneath my gown, my heart pounding.
"Bellamy?" Clarke's voice wavers in confusion as we all turn to see him holding a gun to someone's head.
"What is the meaning of this?" Kane demands, his voice tight with alarm.
"The summit's a trap. We need to get you out of here." Bellamy says urgently, his eyes darting around the room.
"What the hell is going on?" Clarke takes a step closer to Lexa, her tone demanding answers.
"I don't know." Lexa responds, her voice low and firm, her eyes narrowing as she tries to make sense of the situation.
"It's the Ice Nation." Bellamy accuses, his gaze darting to the Azgedan ambassador, Ivon.
"These allegations are an outrage." Ivon counters, turning to Lexa. "The Ice Nation never stormed this summit with weapons, breaking our laws. That was the Skaikru!"
"We're right about this." A Skaikru guard chimes in, siding with Bellamy. "The two guards you left behind are dead, and so are the ones down the hall, and the ones we ran into on the floor below."
My blood runs cold as I share a quick glance with Lexa as we realize the floor below is where Jake is supposed to be sleeping.
"I need more guards on the floor below, now!" I order, turning to two guards who immediately spring into action, leaving the room to follow my command.
"We need to go, now!" Pike urges, addressing my mom, Kane, and Clarke.
"How did you come by this information?" Lexa demands, her voice sharp as she tries to uncover the truth.
Bellamy hesitates, glancing between Lexa and the rest of us, as he, Octavia, and Pike search the room for someone.
"Where the hell is Echo?" He asks, frustration mounting. "What's going on? Where the hell is she?"
