Xander's pov

I sat in my car, waiting for Cassie in the parking lot of James Construction Company. I was excited to take her home. She had been acting differently around me in the past few days - she was more open and affectionate, and it made me feel warm inside. I was starting to feel like we were finally building a loving relationship.

I checked my watch, wondering how long she would be. Ten minutes had passed since she said she was coming. I decided to go and pick her from her office.

I was avoiding Brian and didn't want to go in but screw him my wife was all that that matter. I turned off the engine and got out of my car, heading towards the reception desk.

I approached the receptionist, who looked at me with a familiar, seductive expression on her face. I ignored her, telling her I wanted to see my wife. She frowned, her disappointment evident. I knew that she liked me, but I wasn't interested in her. I was here for one reason only - Cassie.

I walked through the familiar corridors, heading towards Cassie's office. I was a familiar face here, thanks to my relationship with Cassie and my work as a business partner. The guard at the door recognized me and let me through.

I arrived at Cassie's office and found it locked. I squinted my eyes, confused. What was going on? Then I heard a voice coming from Brian's office, and I walked over to investigate. I could hear him talking on the phone, his voice low and hushed.

"Good, just keep Cassie with you in the storage," he said. "I'll let you both out in the morning. Have fun and don't waste this opportunity." He then hung up the phone.

"Where's Cassie?" I asked, my voice low and threatening.

Brian turned around, a look of surprise on his face. "What are you doing here, Smith?" he asked, a smirk on his lips. "What are you looking for?"

"I'm here to pick up my wife," I said, my voice steady. "Where is she?"

"She left with Noah hours ago," he said, his voice mocking. "They're probably still together right now." I knew he was lying.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "Who is locked in the storage?" I asked, my voice hard and he looked alarmed.

"Are you crazy smith what are you saying ?"he asked.

"I heard what you said just now on the phone did you lock cassie with Noah there", I asked and he didn't answer.

I stormed out of his sight and one of the employees directed me towards the storage room and I went there.

I could hear someone knocking on the door from the other side. I knew it was Cassie. I rushed to the door, ready to open it. But before I could reach it, I felt someone drag me from behind and it was Brian.

"Get out of my property, Smith!" . He said harshly . He dragged me away from the door.

I ignored him and went towards the door again and he hit me hard on my face.

I hit him back and he hit me even harder and I fell. I stood up and wiped blood from my lip and went and hit him again and soon we started brawling until we were separated by a security guard.

"What's going on here, sir". he asked Brian.

"Silas get this man off my building " Brian  said to the man who nodded and came to me to escort me out.

"Leave me, I am not leaving this place without my wife." I said and he tried to drag me away but I brushed him off and then he started using force and soon we started fighting too.
