Taehyun was torn.
He had been genuinely happy to find the girl with the incredible voice again, but at the same time, the musician was confused that he couldn't share this news with Gumi. They had had an appointment and the girl had said yes.
So why hadn't she come?
Had he done something to upset Gumi?
Nibbling on his thumbnail, he sat in one of the computer rooms where the live videos were usually recorded to talk to his fans. It was already late, but Taehyun wondered if he should distract himself. Instead, he heard familiar footsteps outside in the corridor and Kai's voice calling out to him. Taehyun turned around in the cramped room without getting up from his desk chair and opened the door to let his manager know where he was.
"I should have known you'd be here. But I was undecided between the studio and the room here," Kai said as he entered the room and pushed the door into the lock behind him. "Are you okay?" His expression was worried and curious at the same time; after all, there must have been a lot of thoughts and questions running through Taehyun's head at the moment.
"Oh, I got stood up," the singer revealed and slumped his shoulders. He told Kai about the audition and that he had found the girl after Taehyun had searched for so long, but Gumi had ditched him at the arranged meeting.
Surprised, Kai shook his head, pushed himself away from the door and swung himself into one of the swivel chairs. His jacket was a bit of a mess today, you could tell by the mismatched buttons, and he asked: "Did you get in touch with her? Or at least written her a message?"
Taehyun shook his head sadly, folded his arms on the desk and rested his chin on them like a remorseful dog. "No, she hasn't called back or responded to my messages. It's as if she's been swallowed up by the earth."
Startled, Kai tucked his chin in, his eyes widening as if Taehyun had given him some terrible news. "I don't want to assume the worst, but I hope nothing has happened to her. Maybe she'll call back later today." He could well understand that Taehyun was worried. After all, Kai thought he had built up feelings for the girl and wanted to get to know her better. "I'd go there tomorrow," he finally suggested, shrugging his shoulders, "I'm no expert, but you can't give up on girls so easily. Even if you are an idol."
"I didn't say I was giving up either," Taehyun replied, giving Kai a sideways glance without moving, "I just didn't want to get on her nerves any more after three calls and two messages."
Especially since he didn't want to be clingy or pushy either.
It only puzzled Taehyun and he didn't know whether he had done anything wrong. If that was really the case, then he also hoped that Gumi would tell him.
"I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow," Taehyun added, glancing at the digital display on the clock next to the computer so that the idols could always keep an eye on their recording time. And it was already close to midnight, he doubted that Gumi would call in today.
