*TRIGGER WARNING* *VERY VIOLENT* *MURDER* *BODIES* *GRAPHIC DESCRIPTION OF STABBING*READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. Thanks for the two thousand reads! This was supposed to be a one thousand reads special, but I waited too long, and now we're at two thousand. This is in no way related to The Insider or the actual series, but enjoy! This is probably going to be the writing style for Not So Perfect, which I will be starting soon. STILL NOT MY ART!
Fitz watched as Sophie fell backwards. Amidst all the bloodshed and tears and gore, he ran for his cognate, the only one he seemed to care about these days. He ran past fistfights and battles won with swords, hurdled over the bodies littering the big courtyard in Eternalia. The Neverseen was back. And they were coming for them all with no mercy. This truly was the final straw, the councilors were surrounded by Brant's dancing flames, some were clinging to each other and some were throwing whatever debris they could find with telekinesis with no avail. The 154th annual Celestial Festival was in shambles, thousands of patrons dead or injured, the Black Swan couldn't even imagine an attack this big and therefore had not substantially prepared.
Everyone thought the Celestial Festival was safe. Many of the Neverseen members were thought to be dead, and hadn't made an appearance in months. All members of the Council deemed it safe that the tradition must continue. It sure wasn't safe now. The Neverseen had thrown thousands of goblin throwing stars at random amongst the crowd with telekinesis, one hitting Maruca squarely in the head. Fitz was standing so close to her, that if he had moved a foot, it would have been him laying dead on the jeweled ground, surrounded by a raging war.
As soon as the dreaded black-cloaked members had glittered onto the stage, his cognate had ran after them, her inflicting taking them down one by one, except the five that dared to show their faces. Fitz's traitorous brother, Keefe's dangerous mother, Grady and Edaline's once almost-son-in-law, the elf that tried to snatch Sophie in the Forbidden Cities, and the ancient coworker of Luzia Vacker. The five seemed to not be affected by Sophie's deadly inflicting: they had worn hats woven with chains, the chains coated in a substance that made abilities weak in the knees.
Despite the disobedient Neverseen members, Sophie sprinted after them hurtling goblin throwing stars at them, managing to take down Gisela and Gethen. Brant ran to hunt down the Councilors. Alvar and Vespera surrounded Sophie, Fitz quickened his sprint.
They dodged every last throwing star Sophie threw, Fitz jumped into the huge water fountain to avoid the bodies littering the benches surrounding it.
Alvar drew a dagger, Fitz waded through the red water.
Vespera tried to shove Sophie, Sophie grabbed onto her shoulders in an attempt to shove her back, Fitz climbed the steps of the stage.
Vespera pushed her to the ground and snatched the knife out of Alvar's hand, Fitz ran towards them.
In one swift movement, Fitz threw a jeweled fragment of a building with his mind at Vespera, all but crushing her to death. Alvar grabbed the knife from Vespera's crumpled hand, ready to finish the job.
Before he could stab Sophie, Fitz tackled him and pinned him to the ground.
"Did you really think you could escape me? After what you've done?" Fitz yelped, ripping the knife from his hand and pointing it at his brother's neck.
"I don't think you have it in you." Alvar said calmly through choked breaths.
"YOU'RE WRONG!" Fitz swiftly slit his throat and gave his shoulders one more shove, watching the light leave his eyes.
Fitz quickly turned to his cognate, who lay on the temporary stage clutching her side, a pained expression on her face as she watched Alvar's body tumble off the stage and join the other black-cloaked bodies.
