Gerard slowly regained consciousness and he found himself lying in a bed in Frank's private clinic. The room was empty, the silence broken only by the faint hum of medical equipment and his whole body throbbed with pain.
With a groan, Gerard struggled to sit up, his muscles protesting with every effort. He glanced up at the ceiling and noticed a mirror hanging above him. With a trembling hand, he reached up to adjust it, his heart sinking as he caught sight of his reflection.
His thighs were marked with Frank's name, the skin raw and bruised from where Ronnie had forced him to grind against his clothed cock. Cigarette burns marred his chest and large bruises covered his chest and torso. Hickeys littered his neck, dark bruises blossoming against his pale skin and hs face was almost disfigured, swollen and bruised beyond recognition, his eyes bloodshot and puffy from crying. Tears welled up in Gerard's eyes as he took in the extent of his injuries.
The door creaked open slowly, and stepped in Frank, his expression unreadable as he approached Gerard's bedside. Gerard's eyes narrowed as he glared at the man who had brought him to this hellish existence. "You!" Gerard spat. "You did this to me. You took away my freedom. You let Ronnie do those things to me."
Frank's jaw clenched tight as he met Gerard's accusing gaze. "I know," he muttered. "I'm sorry, Gerard. I should have stopped him." But Gerard wasn't having it and he shook his head in disbelief, his fists clenched at his sides. "Sorry? Sorry doesn't undo what you've done to me," he seethed. "You're just as guilty as Ronnie. Maybe even worse."
Frank's heart sank at Gerard's words. "I know I messed up," Frank admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "But I'll do whatever it takes to make it right, Gerard. I promise." But Gerard's eyes burned with hatred as he looked up at Frank. "I don't want your promises," he spat. "I want my freedom. And I'll do whatever it takes to get it back."
Frank leaned in close to Gerard. "I did warn you, Gerard," he murmured. "I told you not to volunteer. I tried to protect you." Gerard stared up at Frank, his chest heaving with anger. "Protect me?" he scoffed. "You call this protection? You brought me into this hellhole. You let Ronnie do whatever he wanted to me."
Frank reached out a hand to touch Gerard's shoulder, but Gerard flinched away. "You're selfish," Gerard spat. "You only care about yourself. If I hadn't volunteered, Max would be the one suffering right now. None of this would have happened if you hadn't bought me."
For the first time since Gerard had known him, Frank looked truly shaken. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I never meant for any of this to happen." But Gerard was beyond listening.
With a cry of rage, he raised his hand and slapped Frank across the face, the sound echoing through the empty room. "I don't want your apologies," he spat.
Frank's expression hardened as he grabbed Gerard by the hair, his fingers tightening around the strands with a vice-like grip and he pulled Gerard close, their faces inches apart. "I'll never let you leave me," Frank growled. "I care too much to let you go. You're the light I never knew I needed, Gerard. You're mine."
