The morning sun streamed through the windows as Gerard, Mikey, and Max sat down for breakfast. The atmosphere was surprisingly calm without Frank or Ronnie.

Mikey and Max exchanged hesitant glances, still getting acquainted with each other's presence and Gerard took a sip of his coffee, breaking the silence. "So, Mikey, Max, how did you two meet?" he asked.

Mikey glanced up from his plate, a faint smile playing on his lips. "We met at the garden yesterday," he explained. "Turns out we have a lot in common." Max nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Mikey's been a great friend," he chimed in. "He's been helping me out a lot lately."

Gerard smiled, relieved to see the two of them getting along. "That's good to hear," he replied. "I'm glad you two have each other." As they continued their meal, the conversation flowed more easily, with Mikey and Max sharing stories and anecdotes from their lives.

Suddenly, Ray's unexpected appearance interrupted their breakfast as he approached the table. "Gerard, Frank's asking for you," he announced and Gerard's brow furrowed in suspicion as he exchanged a glance with Mikey and Max.

"I'm not going," he declared firmly and Ray sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Look, Gerard, I understand your reluctance, but Frank insisted," he explained. "It's important." Gerard shook his head resolutely, his jaw set. "I don't care. I'm not going anywhere near him," he stated adamantly.

"I get it, Gerard. But you know Frank won't take no for an answer," Ray reasoned gently. "It might be best to hear him out." Gerard hesitated, torn between his desire to avoid Frank and the nagging feeling that Ray might be right.

Finally, he sighed. "Fine," he relented reluctantly, pushing back his chair and standing up. "But I'm not staying long."

With a heavy heart, Gerard followed Ray out of the room and Ray guided Gerard to the study room, where a tablet rested on the table, its screen illuminated with an incoming video call from Frank.

Gerard's heart pounded in his chest as he reluctantly approached the device and Ray gave him an encouraging nod before stepping back, leaving Gerard alone to face Frank.

With a deep breath, Gerard reluctantly reached out and accepted the call, his fingers trembling slightly as he touched the screen to answer. The image flickered to life, revealing Frank's stern visage on the screen. His expression was unreadable as he regarded Gerard.

"Baby girl," Frank's voice rang out from the speakers. "I need to speak with you." Gerard swallowed hard, forcing himself to meet Frank's gaze. "What do you want?" he asked and Frank's lips curved into a faint smirk. "I need to discuss some matters regarding our arrangement," he replied and Frank's questions came in rapid succession.

"I'm fine," Gerard replied. "I've eaten breakfast, I'm hydrated, and I took a shower this morning." Frank's eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to Gerard's responses, his scrutiny making Gerard feel exposed and vulnerable. "Good," Frank murmured. "And has anyone touched you? Are you hurt in any way?"
