February 2016

It was a beautiful sunny day in New York City, Chinatown, morning around seven, when the sound of a proud grandfather yelling at the top of his lungs could be heard inside an average sized household in Chinatown.

"Vero! Vero!! Vero!!!" Said the grandfather yelled out the name of his grandson. In response to his grandfather's squeal, Vero jumped out of his bed sheets that was covering his entire body like a cacoon.

Vero is a young handsome, attractive African young man of about fifteen years of age with light brown skin. His most distinguishing feature was his mid-length straight white hair with bangs hanging naturally over his forehead and nearly covering his eyes, something that has made him be ridiculed from years to come because no one believes him when he told people he was born with it as his natural hair.

He had grey eyes with a lean and built physique, the result of his constant street fights. He was currently wearing a black tank top and skull print pajama pants with large headphones covering his ears, which probably explains the reason why he did not hear his grandfather calling him the first time.

His room was comprised of white walls on all sides with his medium-sized bed in the corner next to a small desk with an empty trash bin underneath, a mesh chair, a tall drawer dresser at the corner in front of his bed, a closet containing a neat makeshift bed over a small set of drawers. Next to his bookshelf was a guitar and a soccer ball. Unlike most teenagers his age, his room was neat and tidy. Well probably because his grandfather raised him right.

Following this, Vero quickly removed the headphones and immediately opened the door. "Yeah, ahem, yeah!" Vero answered leaning out the door.

"Are you finally ready for school!?" His grandfather asked him downstairs. "You're gonna be late so get moving!"

Looking at himself, he replied with a sheepish, "Yeah", before he quickly ran to the bathroom to get ready. After finishing washing and getting ready, he was finally ready for school.

He was dressed in a slim-fitting attire like he always does. He wore a steel gray T-shirt with skull prints starting on the shoulders and faded as they descend to the chest and black jeans.

He wore a unzipped hooded jacket that was predominantly white. The jacket had dark grey/black accents around the edges and hood, zippered pockets on the sides and chest, and zippers on the sleeves and a mesh interior. The jacket featured intricate detailing. A large white, black outlined dragon is embroidered on the entire back. The dragon, a roaring Nobori-Ryu, had its head ascending west upwards. It was given to him by a nice elderly Japanese man named Odagiri.

He finally put on his Yeager Residence slippers. Rule of the Yeager Residence was you either walk around barefoot, with socks or slippers only, no shoes of any kind. Reason, because it was easier that way to keep the house floors clean and keep good hygiene or whatever. The pair of sneakers or shoes one will wear for the week stay by the main entrance door in a shoe rack.

After finally getting ready, he went downstairs passing the living room and headed straight to the kitchen to see his grandfather.

"Hey, are you hungry? I made..." His grandfather was about to offer him scrambled eggs, but Vero politely cut him off as he was putting on his high top white sneakers.

"I'm good for today, I'm not in the mood to eat breakfast. I'll see you after school. Plus, I'm late enough as it is." He announced his departure after putting on his hood to prevent people from seeing his white hair like he usually does. This never helped much to conceal it but it at least it did make it difficult for anyone he wasn't associated with to see it unless they entered his private space.
