Vero was looking around the jungle still not sure how he got there. “Maybe I’ve got this all wrong. I should ask someone to make sure…” Vero thought to himself before spotting a van driving on the dirt road not too far from where he was. The young man quickly stepped out in the middle of and road.
“Hey! Excuse me, could tell you me where I am…?” He stopped mid-sentence when the van drove through him, his body becoming transparent for a brief moment. The young man turned in the direction the van was heading before sighing in exasperation. “Figured as much.” Murmured Vero, sounding disappointed.
“Okay. I’ve got to think about this.” Vero placed his hands in his pockets and grumbled, thoroughly getting irritated. “I’m not gonna get any answers standing here so I better start moving.”With no better plan, he started walking by following the dirt road seeing as it was the only way forward for now. “I gotta be honest though, as far as strange dreams go, this one kinda sucks. I was expecting something a little more epic to get the blood pumping.” Vero said to himself.
“This is no dream, Vero.” A male voice said behind him which made the young man stop walking.
“Oh yeah? Says who…?” Vero asked before turning in the direction he came from which was also the direction of the person’s voice. To be honest, what he was looking at was something quite…surprising.
The voice came from a lean but muscular build man holding a spear in his right hand. His clothes seemed like a combination of modern day and traditional clothing. He wore a closed, close-fitting, black, full-sleeved, jacket with traditional linings, black trousers that looked casual and were loose, and finally black boots. The back of his jacket had longer coattails that reached his ankles and a high collar. Around his neck, he wore a silver chain necklace with a gorilla pendant. The man had light tan skin, short black hair, dark eyes, and a trimmed beard.
“Your spirit has travelled a great distance. When you left your body, I was called to guide you.” Said the stranger in a very calm, mysterious but oddly friendly tune.
A puzzled Vero with a bored expression just stared at the stranger until he realized something. “Wait. You can see me? How?” A surprised Vero asked the stranger who was staring at him with a calm expression while making his way towards him.
“The answer to all questions hangs around your neck.” The stranger said to him. The stranger pointed at Vero’s amulet which was hanging around his neck. “The Amulet. That is what brought you here. And I was summoned by its power.” The stranger explained to Vero.
“My amulet did all that?” Vero wondered while holding the amulet with his right hand unaware that the stranger was walking away deeper into the jungle. Just when he was about to disappear from sight Vero saw him. “Hey, wait! Where are you going?” Vero asked him.
“Follow me, young warrior. Time is short and there is much I need to show you”. The stranger said after going through trees.
Vero began giving chance only to see him gone like he had vanished. “Man! He’s fast! I can’t even see him anymore but how can I in this dense jungle…?” Vero trailed of before leaping several feet in the air and landed on a thick tree branch which was able to hold his weight.
From there, he began using the trees to look for him, demonstrating his superhuman acrobatic abilities, by jumping from branch to branch or swinging from one to another with relative ease. This reminded him of when he was nine years old, the time when he did the same thing back at Oregon when his grandpa visited his relatives for the holidays. It was during those times he discovered he liked nature strongly and high places because they helped him relax and clear his head.
