AFFECTION
chapter 16 — the set up
"IM SHOPPING FOR HOCO DRESSES, i'll meet you at olive garden in about 20 minutes." blair said, on the phone with irene. "but i thought we were gonna go together." irene said."you already have your dress rene." blair said. "but that doesn't mean i can't help you. besides we have to find a dress for the pre hoco party."
"i'm not going to that party, i told you already." blair said. "i disagree, you're going. see you soon!" irene said, hanging up the phone before blair could make anymore protests.
blair sighed, putting her phone back into her pocket, and looking at the dress she was currently obsessing over. it was a deep blue, and satin. she had never wanted a dress so bad, but then as she looked at her leftover money from her dad she knew she couldn't get it.
everytime blair's father sent her money she had split it into thirds, a third for herself, a third for her sister, and a third for hoco. but she had spent hoco money on necessities, so there wasn't that much.
blair had went to ulta earlier and spent $110 there, and she only had $180 left. she had estimated her nails and toes costing about $80-$100, which left her $80 minimum to pay for shoes and a dress for hoco, as well as one for the hoco party.
and with the $30 silver heels she was buying, $50 was not close enough to buy two good quality dresses.
"maybe i just won't go to hoco, or maybe i shouldn't have gotten new cheer shoes." blair muttered to herself as she walked up to the store's register.
"hi how's your day?" the cashier asked. "good and you?" blair smiled. "it's going well, is the heels all your getting today?" she asked, and blair nodded.
"you sure, i think you would look great in that dress you were eyeing." the girl said. she looked like she was a junior or senior in high school, and blair swore she knew her from somewhere.
blair laughed, shaking her head. "i just can't get it, it's not for me i guess."
"that dress is yours, but if you really think it's not for you then that's fine." the girl said, ringing up the shoes. "32.75" she said.
blair took her card out, and swiped it before putting in her pin and doing her signature.
"all good, have a great day! i hope you find a dress to find those beautiful shoes." the cashier said handing blair the bag. "thank you, and you too!"
she left the store, going towards the escalator to go up to the top floor of the mall where the food court and restaurants were.
the walk to olive garden didn't take to long, since it was mostly teenagers int the food courts or in stores doing last minute homecoming shopping.
