chapter 38 — hoffman breakfast
"WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW" dylan said walking down the hallway half asleep. it was seven in the morning, and he was rudely awakened my music blasting from downstairs.luckily for him blair was extremely tired after they stayed up all night, so she was fast asleep in his bed.
he saw his sister who's door was open for once,
probably to let in the cool air from downstairs since upstairs was typically hot."mom and dad actually realized that blair has been here for 3 days and have yet to treat her to an actual full meal so we're all going to eat breakfast together." emma said, not looking up from her phone.
"no, no way. i can't have her meet you guys over dinner yet. it hasn't even been a month." dylan said.
"don't tell me, tell our parents." emma said. dylan sighed, turning around and walking downstairs.
"why can't i have a normal family." dylan muttered to himself as he walked to the kitchen, where music was still blasting.
"there's our son!" his dad said when he saw dylan.
"why are you guys making food this early in the morning, i can't remember the last time we ate all together as a family for breakfast." dylan said."your girlfriend has been here for days and we haven't gotten the chance to have a full meal with her." lissa said.
"we barley have been dating for sometime, can't you guys wait til at least the third month." dylan said.
"no. now go shower. you smell like sweat." david, his dad said. "no i don't! blair would've told me." dylan said.
"you do. go shower, breakfast will be ready at eight thirty and then we're all going to go apple picking." david said again.
"after we drop blair off?" dylan said. "blair's coming with us honey!" lissa said while pouring pankacake batter on a pan.
"no. no no no. blair cannot come with us, and she has to stay home with her sister. that's why she's leaving so early." dylan said.
"addy can come with us, it will be so fun. especially with november coming to an end." lissa said.
"you know her sister's name? i need to end this conversation before i start tearing up." dylan said turning around to the staircase.
"shower!"
"i don't even smell." dylan said, smelling his armpits as he walked downstairs.
-
"we don't have to eat breakfast you know." dylan said as he layed down next to blair who was now awake.
half of her body was on top of him, as he caressed her head while she just spoke.
"i want to meet your family, we can do a more formal meeting some other time. when we're more into our relationship." blair said.
"it will just be nice to talk over breakfast. breakfast is way less casual." she said.
"and about the other stuff they planned?" dylan asked. "i told you, it's fine. i'm excited for it all." blair said.
dylan sighed, just glad he felt like his parents weren't forcing blair into something she wasn't interested in.
"okay." he whispered, kissing blair's head and making her blush. "let's just stay here, we don't have to eat with those losers." dylan said.
"those losers are your family." blair said. "i hate them." dylan said. "no you don't, you wouldn't be here without—"
dylan cut her off, raising blair's head so she faced him and kissed her. "i hate when you're right, so don't finish speaking."
blair tried to pull away so she could spite dylan and finish her sentence, but he wouldn't let her and pulled blair closer.
his hands again went down to her back, his hands going up and down. "i'm going to miss seeing you all day everyday."
"when summer comes we can have two day sleepovers again." blair said back.
"one more kiss." dylan said, not even continuing the conversation the couple were having. they were stopped when his little brother josh entered the room.
"oh my gosh dylan keep it in your pants!" josh yelled when he walked in and saw the couple.
"dude get out." dylan said putting his face in his hands. "breakfast is ready, stop being gross and come downstairs."
josh left the room, and blair covered her face in embarrassment. "he's not gonna say anything, i'll just have to deal with his teasing for a while." dylan said.
dylan knew blair was nervous despite her agreeing to the family breakfast. he wanted to do everything he could to help her.
before they knew it they were sitting at the dining table which was previously dusty and untouched, ready to eat the prepared breakfast.
blair was in awe in what was in front of her, she had never seen so many plates of food at once. it wasn't a normal for large amounts of food to be made in her household, let alone eat it all together.
everyone was serving himself, two of the siblings always arguing over something that they both wanted from the large table. their partners repeatedly shushed them, reminding them that they had a guest.
"you want anything else." dylan asked as he took out blair's food for her. "just one more piece of bacon, then that's good." blair said.
"for the beautiful girl? of course." dylan flirted, while blair tried to hide her blush in front of the family.
"we saw your flips at the homecoming game, we were so shocked when dylan told us that was you." lissa said as the family ate.
"yeah. that's my thing i guess." blair spoke. "how long have you been doing cheer for?"
"only for two years. i actually used to be a gymnast but then i retired but decided to put my skills to good use." blair said.
"i used to be on the cheer team, i quit after sophomore year." emma said. "it gets tiring after a while yeah?"
"you get it. see mom it's not just me!" emma said. blair got immersed with the family in a conversation with many topics, dylan taking part in the conversations but more so just watching.
his family weren't one to like everyone, but they treated blair with such respect and he loved it. blair no longer seemed nervous, and both his family and girlfriend were getting along.
dylan was happier than ever (okay billie), so instead of talking he decided to just watch the five people talking with a smile on his face.
that's when he officially realized, he had finally had the girl of his dreams, the girl he liked for 6 years, and she was getting along with his family.
that's when he realized, blair was the only girl for him, that's when dylan hoffman realized that he was helplessly in love with blair kimura.
