"Hello," Jax says in to the phone wondering who is on the other end since our mother didn't tell him. "Hey Jax, it's Unser. I wanted to give you a heads up. I heard something about some witnesses coming forward for the Veronica Pope death. Said that two witnesses spotted Tig driving away from the scene and two more spotted you, Lexie and Chibs riding after Tig shooting at the blacks," Unser explains, "There's more bad news I'm afraid. There are officers that have warrants for the arrests of you, Lexie, Chibs and Tig for county," he adds. Jax's face falls and I can tell immediately something is wrong. Either someone has died or we are in big trouble. Please don't let it be that someone died. I don't want to lose anyone. "Shit," Jax says hating this information Unser has given him. He looks at me knowing I ain't going to like this. "I'm sorry to tell you that son, I thought you would like the heads up," he says before hanging up. Jax hands Gemma back her phone and I go up to him seeing the panic in his face. "Jax what is going on?" I ask. Chibs walks in. "What did Unser say?" I ask trying not to panic but I am so worried. "We got warrants out for our arrest," Jax reveals.
The room falls silent.
I try to process what he has just told us. This can't be happening right. I'm losing people again? "Shit, no. You got to be kidding right? Is it all of us or just some of us?" I ask. Jax runs his hand down his face. "Me, you, Chibs and Tig," he tells me. My heart feels like it is in my throat. I can't catch my breath. "Fuck," I say hating this as I freak out, "What for exactly? I don't remember doing anything wrong," I say. Tara is shocked about what is going on. "Look if you want me to take care of Elsie so that she is close to her family whilst you're in county I can do," she says. Tears burn the back of my eyes as I remember Elsie will have to be without her parents. "Oh god, Elsie. She is going to be all alone," I say. "It's for the death of Veronica Pope," Jax says. I didn't find this fair that we are going down for something Tig did in retaliation to Clay's lie. In fact if it wasn't for me we wouldn't be in this situation right now. I shot Clay, making him lie about the niner which made Tig go after them, killing Veronica in the process. A chain of reaction caused by me. Or if you see if from a different point of view this is all Clay's fault. He killed Piney. "But we didn't do it. It was only one of us that did it," I say hating this a lot. "Lets go discuss this in the kitchen," Tara says. I follow her in to the kitchen along with the others. I sit at the table. I feel like such a shit mother to be doing this to Elsie, I mean she is too young to lose both her parents.
My phone begins to ring and I answer it. "Hey Lex, sorry I tried to call Jax but he ain't picking up," Phil says. I begin to feel more anxious wondering what this call is about. "It's okay Phil, what's up?" I ask. Phil sighs, "The sheriff was here looking for you, Chibs and Jax. Next place they will be looking is Jax's," he warns. Panic settles in to my bloodstream as I scan the people around the table. I know it will be a matter of time before the cops catch up to us. "Thanks for the heads up," I say hanging up and slamming my phone on the table. "What is it?" Tara asks worried if there is anymore bad news to bring forth. "Sherriff's at the clubhouse looking for me, Chibs and Jax. Next place will be here," I say. I put my head in to my hands wondering what to do now. "You need to go on the run," Gemma says, making me lift up my head. Has she gone insane? I know she used to be a fugitive but doesn't mean I want to be one. "No that is an insane idea Gemma, they could get themselves killed. Leaving your granddaughter an orphan. Do you really want that?" Tara asks sternly also finding the idea absurd. Gemma shakes her head, "No course not, but if they go to prison they could die in there as well," she reminds us. "Can you both stop," I say wanting to process everything that is going on. Bobby decides to jump in to the conversation. "I agree with Gem, biding time will be a good choice to make. Plus it gives you a chance to sort out some protection for you inside. Especially for Lexie, since she won't be in the same prison as you guys," he points out. I realise that he is right. I will be in a female prison whilst the rest will be in a male prison. "He has a point, I need all the protection I can get, I will be the most vulnerable," I tell them. Jax gets worried about that knowing this would also be my first time in prison. "Then we could do a runner," he says. I still have a bad idea about doing a runner knowing it won't get us anywhere. "I have a place you can go to keep low profile," Gemma says. I stand up from the table and look at Tara, "You sure you will be able to look after Ellie?" I ask. Tara nods her head keeping her word. I smile slightly glad she would help me out. I can't help but still feel like a shit mother.
A little time passes and we reach a building that seems quite high up in financial businesses. Almost like CaraCara. I am a bit confused of where we are and if we can trust the people. A tall guy with dark hair and a beard approaches us. "You can crash here for as long as you need, there is a therapy room around the back you can stay in," he says. I take my phone out of my pocket noticing that it is ringing again, this time it is one of the other lads notifying me that they got informed about Tig being by the old railyard, but we had to go now. I hang up and lay eyes on Jax and Chibs, who are staring at me wondering who was on the phone. "We have to go, Tig needs us," I say. Gemma stops us from going. "The Sherriff's department will be searching for you out there, you can't take your bikes," she points out. "They can take my truck," Nero tells her. He hands Jax his keys, he takes them and we exit the building.
Tig is sitting at the railyard on the edge of a container. I can't get over the smell over a burnt body, that hits me when I move out the truck. I go over to Tig seeing that he is in shock and heartbreak. I peek in to the container to notice a few dead bodies, along with two fresh bodies that aren't burnt. That is when it hits me, Pope must have done an eye for an eye situation where it was daughter for a daughter. Tig lost Dawn, burnt alive right in front of him. I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy. Jax and I assist Tig in getting Dawn's corpse out of the container. Chibs grabs a petrol can and throws it over the rest of the bodies and lighting them on fire. "Lets give Tig a minute alone to say goodbye," I say as they nod and follow me over to the truck, where we watch from a distance.
"Pope needs to pay for what he did," I say. Jax and Chibs know I am right as they don't break their stare from their brother. "We'll get our own back," Jax responds. I feel sick and heartbroken for Tig. "What if Pope comes after Elsie next?" I ask. Chibs looks at me wondering why I would think that would happen. "Then we will be ready for him," he replies. I want to believe him I really do, and I hope Pope never comes for my little girl.
We turn up back at Nero's business place. Jax hands him money for his time and convenience. I sit with Tig to give him a sense of comfort. I stroke his hair as he lays his head on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry Tiggy," I whisper as I kiss his head. I love him so much, I mean I think the world of him. He may be a little unhinged at times but we are always there for eachother. He's my best friend. I can't see my life without him.
Our lawyer shows up and I gather around the table with Gemma and Tara, as well as Jax, Bobby and Chibs. "I want to bide time, I know Pope won't want a trial, he wants us dead. I want security for us inside, especially for Lex, she'll be on her own," Jax suggests. The lawyer notes this down on her piece of paper. "If I tell them you're going to hand yourselves in then it can buy you eight hours. After that you're fugitives avoiding arrest," she informs us. Eight hours. Eight hours until I have to say goodbye to my baby. To my mum. Eight hours until I am away from the lads for the very first time. "Mum can you keep an eye on Tig, he isn't doing good," I say. Gemma nods her head feeling worried about him as she walks over to him.
"Jax there was a home invasion last night at mum's house. Unser was there feeding her bird, he got beaten up badly," I reveal once she is out of earshot. Jax's face fills with concern and a bit of panic, "Pope, I reckon is coming after our families," he says. I felt my heart drop as he says this hoping it isn't true. "It's not a good time to be thinking of payback," Bobby interrupts. Bobby's right, it ain't a good time, but when is there ever a good time? "Take Gem home, get all our families to the clubhouse, there needs to be a lock down," I order. Bobby stands up from the table understanding what I wanted him to do. "We need to find out Thawn's address before Pope barbecues as well," Jax says to Chibs before turning to the lawyer, "Make the call, tell the DA's that we will turn ourselves in tonight at the clubhouse," he tells her.
