07:00

I am done bathing and dressing Athenkosi so I give him a bottle and lie him down and he's out within seconds. We barely slept last night, he is not well.

I refuse to come out of the bedroom so I called his dad and told him so we are taking him to the hospital.

Anyway, I head to the bathroom and take a quick shower. I don't want to be extra so I just settle for a black parachute dress and a white bodysuit. I also wear black sandals.

I quickly wear a glueless kinky straight wig. I then pack his baby bag. Nkosi comes in and looks at me.

Nkosi: good morning.
Me: morning.
Nkosi: are you ready to go?

I nod and he takes the bag while I take Athenkosi. I also grab some blankets and my phone and card.

Nkosi and I really don't get along but we put our differences aside when it comes to Athenkosi and Lonwabo.

Nkosi: how was his breathing at night?
Me: it was really bad, he sounded like a truck.
Nkosi: oh and how are you?
Me: I'm fine.
Nkosi: I mean you came home, didn't speak to anyone and...
Me: not now, please. let's focus on the child.

We get to the hospital and they lead us to the paediatric side. Nkosi gets a call and looks at it and back at me.

Me: answer your girlfriends.

He gets up and walks out with his phone. He comes back and...

Nkosi: uhm, something came up and...
Me: go to your girlfriend, Nkosikhona.
Nkosi: no, I can...
Me: please leave.
Nkosi: oh okay.

He does as told and I stay with my baby. We don't need him anyway. They call us in and we walk in, Athenkosi is in his stroller.

Doc: hey, how can I help you today?
Me: hey, doc. my son here barely had any sleep last night. his breathing patterns were off and he keeps scratching his ears. he also burns up a lot.
Doc: so your son has tonsils. with the breath, how often does that happen?
Me: at night.
Doc: okay, that is probably because of the pillow your baby is using. it might be too big or too small so it causes the bad breathing.
Me: okay, doc.
Doc: I will prescribe some medication for the tonsils. please also check the pillow, mommy.

I giggle out of being polite because he is also smiling at me.

Doc: please do come back and see me for a check up with that little guy.
Me: thank you, doc.

I take the prescription, grab Athe's bag and start pushing his stroller. He is still sound asleep. He must be really tired, he barely got any sleep last night.

Me: mommy loves you.

I call that Uber guy from last time and he picks us up, takes us to the pharmacy and we go back to the house.

We get there and I feed him since he is already awake. I then give him his medication. Buhle comes to check on us but goes back to what ever she was doing.

I burp my baby and put him back to sleep. Athenkosi is so tired, I feel so sorry for him. If only I could take the pain away from him then I would.

While thinking about that, I get a call from Zizwe. He has been calling me nonstop and I have no intention of replying because what does he want to say?

WEDNESDAY, 12 FEBRUARY

I wake up and do my normal routine. I look for an outfit and eventually opt for black bermuda shorts and a black bodysuit. I then wear white socks and black slides.

I wear the wig from yesterday and a headwrap over the front part. Athenkosi is till sleeping so I head downstairs for breakfast and find Zizwe.

Me: Zizwe?
Zizwe: hey.
Me: what are you doing here?
Zizwe: well, you weren't answering my calls so I decided to pop by.

Oh no!
