SATURDAY, 04 MAY

Zizwe and I are moving into our new home today. I am absolutely excited about it, I won't lie. It won't be easy though because Zizwe is working tomorrow and I will have to do certain things on my own since he won't be here. I think I've got this though, WOMANDLA!

We are currently sitting around our little glass coffee table and having pizza while chatting here and there.

Armani: mommy, look.

She says pointing at her iPad screen, showing me her cartoons.

Me: oh, that's nice.
Zizwe: baby, I got a call from your mom.
Me: when was this?
Zizwe: yesterday..
Me: and?
Zizwe: she would like to see you.

His phone rings and he looks at me.

Zizwe: that's for you. your mom is outside.
Me: you sold me out!
Zizwe: no.

I laugh at him because he is so chilled about what he did.

Me: I don't like you.
Zizwe: I love you too.

I get up and head to the gate where I find my mother waiting for me.

Me: mama.
Mom: my daughter. Imani, I am so sorry. I know I hurt you. I was an absent mother and I have never been in touch with you. I missed every milestone, every great achievement and I'm so sorry. please forgive me, let me do right by you. please allow me to fix this.
Me: how, ma?

We are now both crying our eyes out.

Mom: I don't know but I am a mother! I will figure it out. please find it in your heart to forgive me, Mani. I am so sorry.
Me: I forgive you, mama. I am sorry too.
Mom: no, don't apologise.

I am willing to fix things with my mother. I can't hold this grudge forever. At the end of the day, it hurts me. She is my mother at the end of the day, she gave birth to me and what she did doesn't change that fact. She is and will remain the woman who gave me life.

Me: come inside.

We get inside and find my babies still sitting where I left them.

Zizwe: Gogo.

My mom laughs before walking towards Zizwe and shaking his hand. He lets go and Armani hides behind him while holding on to his pants.

Mom: hey, baby. hey, girl.

Zizwe picks her up and she lies her head on his shoulder.

Zizwe: greet Gogo, angel.
Armani: hello.
Mom: can I hold you?

Armani nods before reaching out for mom to take her. She takes her and tears escape from her eyes as she embraces her.

This is a beautiful moment and I hope this is the beginning of a good relationship.
