When Poppy asked the venue of the Party, Eugene enlightened her that it was none other than the backyard of Lykaios mansion. She swore just yesterday that she won't be stepping on that damned place ever again and here she was all dressed up to be there. What an irony?
They were talking in the car, when her attention fell on his knuckles, which were popping out gripping the steering. They looked bruised. "What happened to your hand?", she asked, pointing to his red knuckles. He glanced at his hands and faced her. There was a hesitation in his face.
She squinted her eyes to take a good look at his handsome face to make sure what she saw. Yes, there was a faint bruise on his cheeks as well. "Have you got yourself into a fight?", she asked, staring at his bruise. Her concern towards him was evident in her innocent eyes.
He turned his face towards the road and a lopsided smile plastered on his face remembering yesterday night's incident.
~ Flashback ~
In the process of venting her anger out, Poppy had butchered someone's ego very badly.
Initially, Artemis was utterly astonished by the blazing fire spitting out of her sparkling chocolatey eyes. From where did that dare come from in that little mouse, he wondered? He still remembers her timidness when he saw her for the first time. The sight was an absolute satisfaction when her glowing face turned into a colorless mess when she realised that she had mistook him for Eugene.
With the passing time of her blabbering something, he was drowned into her moving lips. He could clearly hear those harsh words coming out of her damn big mouth which meant to insult him, but his focus was entirely on those delicate pink petals.
Why didn't he stop her big mouth from doing so? If there was someone else instead of her, he would have shred that human into pieces with his own claws, just like she did to the paper in front of his face, just a moment after her non stop lecturing. His mind had blanked out for a moment. What sorcery had she casted on him?
Finally when his senses returned back to his blade-sharpen mind, his trance broke like a big hit. as soon as he realised, how that big-mouthed little mouse had slapped on his ego, of a size of Mt. Everest, and he couldn't do anything.
He prowled towards the main door, as if he was out hunting, searching for her but till then she was already gone. He called the driver, who was assigned for her pick and drop, to bring her back. He threw the phone across the porch when the driver informed him that she took a cab instead of using the car.
A loud growl resonated throughout the entire mansion letting every soul in it know that he was in an extremely sour mood. He was literally shaking in anger. How dare she? She was nothing but a penny worth of a teacher. How dare that human woman insult an Alpha like that? She sure had a death wish. He was angry not only at her but also at himself. How could he let her slip away without showing her true place. In the first time of his life, he was defeated by a human. He won't let this matter slide so easily. He will avenge her rude behaviour.
The beast of man strode towards his wardrobe like a wild beast and dressed himself with whatever came to his hand. Taking the car keys he drove away to the warehouse, the secret working place of werewolves of Lyakios clan.
That night would have been difficult for him if he wouldn't have ventured out somewhere and nothing was better than beating those rogues to pulp. Even after breaking some sweat in that process he was still not satisfied.
He drove his car towards his own pub and drank his favourite Tennessee Whiskey till he was drowned in tipsy. In this whole time only one face was surfacing in his mind and he hated it. An unknown feeling was filling up inside him which he didn't like at all.
