simone, the ultimate wingman
—"Don't hate me."
"Well, that's not reassuring to hear, Simone."
It was the end of a long day—History and both Homeroom periods were a mess with Giraud, gym class was even worse as Sadie had finished her push-ups test (which she failed horrendously), and Maths was a complete nightmare, as usual. The only consolation she got was the confirmation of the field trip being set for the following week after everyone finished their presentations in Marcelin's. Sadie was ready to go, having finished the entire project due to Molly's research. She was just making a script for the pair of them, when Simone's guilty voice sounded.
Sadie turned from her seat on a bench with Martine to face the bobbed brunette as she came up to her. Simone came up with the most innocent face, but judging by the way she held her hands in front of her and bit her lip, Sadie had a feeling Simone had done something very wrong.
"What happened? Is everything okay?" she asked, putting away her notecards.
Meanwhile Martine stared at the girl accusingly. "What did you do?"
Simone laughed nervously. "I was just with Michèle when Jean-Pierre came up to us to ask her something."
Sadie nodded in confusion. "Okay..?"
"And his friends may have come with him...including Casiro..."
Sadie's face dropped as she stared up at the girl. "Simone, you didn't."
Simone grinned sheepishly down at her. "Aha, I did."
Sadie groaned, while Martine looked in between them with her brows furrowed. "What? What did she do?!"
Sadie hid her face behind her hands as Simone explained, "On Tuesday, we were just talking about the football game for tomorrow—which you're both going to, by the way!—when Sadie exposed herself for having a crush on Casiro—!"
"The senior?!" Martine gawked at Sadie. "Sadie, you have a crush on a senior?! What about Descamps?!"
"I don't have a crush on a senior!" Sadie interjected, feeling her hands start to sweat. "I just admitted that I think he's fit! Hell, almost all of the seniors are! That doesn't mean anything, it's just an observation; like how the sun is up!"
Martine took to patting Sadie's back while Simone winced and continued.
"So when Jean-Pierre came around with his friends, they asked if we and the rest of the girls in the year were going to come to the game, so I brought you up!"
"Aw, man, I'm in the mud." Sadie stared ahead of her blankly. "He's gonna think I actually like him!"
"Who cares?" said Simone. "You don't actually like him, so it doesn't matter. And even if you did, so what? It's not like he'll go and harrass you! Unlike Descamps, he's not a bully, Sadie."
