Maggie had decided to opt out of the trying to convince Tony to join them side mission that the other three had went on.

Having not know the man all too much and not wanting to jeopardize anything, that was her excuse anyway.

The real reason was because she knew about Tony's parents, because she was there on that mission with the Winter Soldier.

She couldn't remember it fully, but the bits and pieces she did remember....it was just better off if she stayed back at the compound for this one.

It wasn't too long before the group came back, albeit they didn't have Tony on board, but they didn't return empty handed, having recruited Bruce Banner.

"Okay, here we go, Time Travel test number one", Bruce announced, flicking around on his set up. "Scott, fire up the uh....the van thing"

They had the van with the makeshift time machine up and ready as they were attempting to successfully send Scott back in time for this practice run.

"Breakers are set", Maggie called, walking in with Steve at her side as they'd gone to check that everything else was ready in case of emergency.

"Emergency generators are on standby", Steve added, both of them directing this to Bruce.

"Good, because if we blow the grid, I don't want to lose, uh..", Bruce spoke nervously, speaking lowly to Steve, Maggie and Nat as he gestured to Scott. "Tiny here in the nineteen fifties."

"Excuse me?", Scott bewildered, having heard Bruce.

"He's kidding", Nat reassured with a stiff voice, messing around on her notepad, her voice going tight as she looked to Bruce. "You can't say things like that."

"It was a bad joke", Bruce tried to reassure, his voice wavering as he turned to Scott.

Satisfied with their answers, Scott nodded as he slipped on his gloves and made his way toward the van.

"You were kidding, right", Nat mumbled, not taking her eyes off the notepad.

"I have no idea. We're talking about time travel here", Bruce turned back to her and whisper yelled. "Either it's all a joke, or none of it is", he panicked.

Getting that out of his system, Bruce then calmed himself as he turned to Scott with a small smile and a big thumbs up. "We're good!"

"Get your helmet on", Bruce then told Scott, the man quickly securing his helmet as it slid over his head.

"Scott, I'm gonna send you back a week, let you walk around for an hour, then bring you back in ten seconds", Bruce explained to him. "Make sense?"

"Perfectly not confusing", Scott assured.

"Good luck, Scott", Maggie offered him a smile, the thoughts in her head wanting to turn it to a frown, but she put on a front for him.

"You got this", Steve affirmed, also offering a smile, Steve not being as good as masking his nervousness as Maggie was, the smile being quite tight.

Neither of the two, or frankly, all four of them besides Scott were very trusting of this plan, doubting the time machine, but they owed it to everyone who wasn't here to try.

"You're right", Scott nodded to Steve. "I do, Captain America!"

Just as he'd finished his statement, Bruce had them pushed down on a button, Scott getting sucked into the time machine.

"On a count of three"; Bruce then voiced, flicking around on his set up as he prepared to bring Scott back, counting down. "Three, two, one."

After he finished his count down, Bruce repressed the button that would return Scott back to the present, the person coming out not being Scott but a teenage boy?

"Uh....guys?", the teenager question, his brows going up scaredy. "This doesn't feel right", the boy said worriedly.

"What is this?", Steve asked Bruce.

"Who is that?", Nat questioned.

"Hold on", Bruce reassured unsurely, flicking at his equipment some more.

"Is that Scott", Maggie squinted her eyes from where she stood, seeing a slight resemblance.

"Yes, It's Scott", the boy snapped in worry, Bruce pressing the button making the machine suck teenager Scott back up.

"What's going on, Bruce?", Steve wondered to Bruce, the old man more then confused.

"Oh, my back", was the first thing they heard when Bruce had ignored Steve and pressed the button, praying for a miracle only for an old man to be teleported back out to them.

"Hold on a second", Bruce was now foddering around with every single button he had, glancing nervously to Steve and Maggie who were close by watching his every move.

"Can I get a little space", he then squeaked to the two super soldiers.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah", Steve shuffled over, ushering Maggie by the arm gently along with him as he spoke to Bruce. "Can you bring him back?"

"I'm working on it", Bruce huffed out, clicking more buttons and flicking more switches, the portal taking old Scott back and spitting out a smaller Scott.

"It's a baby", Steve raised his brows as they all looked to...Baby Scott.

"Definitely a baby", Maggie conquered, nodding at her own findings.

"It's Scott", Bruce gestured to the baby proudly.

"As a baby", Steve furrowed his brows.

"He'll grow", Bruce reasoned.

"Bring Scott back", Steve demanded.

"When I say kill the power, kill the power", Bruce ordered Nat, going back to his clicking and flicking.

"Oh, my god", Nat muttered, not knowing why she'd agreed to this in the first place.

"And....kill it", Bruce yelled, Nat pulling the large switch fully down and shutting off all of the power.

Their makeshift time machine then began to have a seizure of overload as it then spat out and deposited a time frazzled regular looking Scott.

"Somebody peed my pants", was the first thing Scott said after her came back, filling the team with relief.

"Oh, Thank God", Nat pressed a hand to her chest, letting out a breath.

"But I don't know if it was baby me or old me", Scott went over his variants. "......Or just me me", he cringed slightly.

"Time travel!", Bruce held his hulky arms out in proudness, looking around confused at the raised looked he was getting from the others in the room.

"What?", he questioned, his mood dampening as Steve just shook his head and began walking out of the room. "I see this as am absolute win", he called to the rest.

"Of course you do", Maggie groaned, turning on her foot as she then followed out after Steve.

Scientists would always see failure as a good thing, no matter how bad it was.
