15 to 20 minutes later, I stumbled out, surprised to be so thankful for an ice-cold shower.

One of the things I now realized was that water heaters weren't exactly a thing here, but I was still happy to be clean, and I had also washed the clothes I'd been wearing for the past few days.

I hung my clothes up in the bathroom to dry and went through my backpack for something else to wear.

I managed to get out a nightgown and thigh-high socks it wasn't exactly presentable, but it covered me up and it was comfy.

I walked out and back into the main room where Maya and Mystic were waiting for me

Maya spoke
"You're looking a lot better now. How do you feel?"

I responded nervously
"c-cold but better yes"

"So you can speak," Maya said. I nodded my head as she waved me into the kitchen.

"Here, I got you some food from Moxxis. Take a seat while we talk."

When I walked into the kitchen, I saw a little basket of fries on the card table. I sat at one of the fold-up chairs, and Maya sat down across from me.

"Terrifying, isn't it getting used to your powers?" I had been dealing with strange phenomena throughout my life, but this definitely topped the lot.

"Is this the first time something like that has happened to you?" Maya asked I replied, "Kind of... I think.. do lights flickering whenever I get anxious count?"

Maya answered, "Well, from the looks of it, your powers have some effect on electrical currents, so probably. The story you told us how you just woke up in Handsome Jack's office, when we first met, did you leave out anything?"

The only thing I had left out was what had happened in the bathroom before I escaped, so I told her.

And the one time Maya told me to book it to the vehicle while they had to deal with that badass, and then before I passed out how I tried to save Zer0, even the weird stuff that was going on with my helmet, it was as if I was tapping into a different energy source, something hidden away.

As I told her all of this, she nodded her head and looking deep in thought.

"You don't have the markings to be a siren, so I can see why Handsome Jack took an interest in you; it would be best for you to keep your suit on when you're out until we deal with him. but until then, if you can learn how to control your powers, you would give us one hell of an upper hand here."

I agreed with her the sooner I get control over this, the better.

I thought about all of this; it was all so weird. Maybe I was in a coma somehow. Maybe something went wrong when I was coming home. Maybe if I helped them defeat Handsome Jack, I would wake up.

I would finally see my mom again. Hell, the lecture she would undeniably give me would be worth seeing her again, and at this point I deserved it. She must be worried, right?

I didn't need to think about my answer
"I'll help you guys defeat Handsome Jack, if you help me control this.. please..."

"Well, I wasn't really looking for a deal, but you've got yourself one."

And that was that the next two hours and a half we spent meditating, Maya told me that it would "help focus my power." After a couple more minutes of nothing happening, I stood up and walked over to one of the fold-up chairs and took a seat, feeling defeated.

Maya was still meditating, so I sat back and closed my eyes. I felt Mystic crawl up onto my lap as I sighed and pondered: Was this "power" really just another form of energy I could tap into?
