We were back at Sanctuary, getting ready to head through the laundromat and up the stairs to HQ.

Maya was still holding me up right so Krieg went in first to deal with the crazy lady. Krieg stood in front of Tannis, yelling something about science and little voices.

While he distracted her, Maya and I snuck past and started up the stairs. When we got to the top, we stood by the door to the living room/bedroom that also led into HQ.

Maya was trying to figure out an excuse for why I was on another mission after getting "seriously injured" from the last one without mentioning the hole having siren powers but not actually being a siren thing.

Meanwhile, I was figuring out why my health was such a big deal to everyone. I just didn't understand why? It felt like they were blowing it out of proportion hell in the game, a slagged Varkid would barely affect them, like they were annoying, but still-

"Hey slab!" We were both startled by a tall man around 6' foot light skin, no hair, and massive scars on his arms and some on his face.

I nearly yelped in surprise while Maya jumped a little and greeted him.

"Uh, Hey Brick." I was leaning against the wall next to Maya, and I found myself trying to inch behind her as he continued.

"Who's the new blood here?" he said as he tilted his head slightly to get a better look at me.

"They are Zer0's new teammate."

"OH They must be pretty good if he's letting them tag along. I only met him a couple hours ago, and already I can tell he's a no-nonsense type of guy, ya know? I was just asking him what his favorite weapon was, and he just shook his head and walked away!"

"Oh, that's unfortu-." Maya was cut off by another person. This guy was around Brick's height, tan, with black hair and a pointy beard. "Hey, Amigo, get in here. Lilith Roland and the sniper guy have been going crazy waiting over here."

I heard Lilith call out. "Mordecai, are they here!?" "Yeah!" Mordecai called back.

With an arm around me again, we walked in, although Maya looked like she was about to strangle Mordecai.

The first person to speak was Zero.

/The mission was wrong/You were supposed to watch them/but you took them out?/

Roland also spoke, "I'm with Zer0 on this one; you should not have taken an injured recruit to the field."

Maya let me go so she could go talk to Roland and Lilith.

I stood there a bit wobbly, but hey, at least I was starting to feel my legs again, kind of.

I listened as Lilith spoke, "Seriously, what made you think taking them out in the state that they were in was a good idea?!"

"After a couple hours, they looked like they were doing better, and I had another mission, so I thought it would be a good chance to do some training."

Maya said with a surprising amount of confidence, seeing how she left out the siren magick.

Lilith continued, "If they were well enough to leave them on their own, then you should have left them in their apartment!"

Maya and Lilith both looked less than happy with each other.

While they were bickering, I felt a stabbing sensation going through my ankle, the same ankle that had been stung by the varkid and grabbed, twisted, and yanked by the bullymuong.

I ended up shifting my weight to give my leg a break, and out of curiosity, I glanced over at Zer0. Other than that one statement he had made, he was awfully quiet. When I looked over, I couldn't help but notice that he was looking at me?
