BACKSTORY
LAYLA ELWOOD has always been a "it" girl since the age of fifteen. Her mother being Christina Lake-Elwood and her father being Joshua Elwood. Two A-list celebrities who just so happened to fall in love bringing into the world two nepotism babies, Layla and her brother Marcus. To say they were spoiled is an understatement, but they never asked for anything. The Elwoods taught their children to be respectful and humble to anyone and everyone, to never wave their money or name around to get what they want. But that doesn't mean problems didn't erupt.
When Layla was only thirteen her father was in a car crash that caused him to go into a coma and later pass away because of fatal injuries. After that she went into a spiraling depression, her father was her best friend, and to lose him at such a young age made her doubt how good life can truly be. The media didn't help either. The constant questions and interviews that the family had to go through was brutal. She just wanted to grieve in peace, but when you have one of the most popular names in Hollywood peace is never an option.
It took her two years to gain some form of closure, but still whenever someone mentioned him she couldn't help the feeling of bursting out into tears. She tried to distract herself as best as possible and that resulted in her starting her acting career. Being in the spotlight all those years for just being the child of superstars she felt the need to become one herself, she was in theater all throughout high school starring in every production they put on, meanwhile also starring as mini characters in major TV shows. Her friends in school envied her but most of all supported her. Her brother was the most proud. He went to every one of her shows and premieres, always saying how she was going to win an oscar one day. They had the best relationship out of the family, they were each other's right hand man. However when it came to their mother it wasn't like that at all.
Ever since her father died Christina was shallow and stern with her children not letting them fall out of bounds in any way. She never showed up to any of Layla and Marcus's school events, nothing other than a reprimand came out of her mouth, she was cold. She was always too busy filming another movie or interviewing for another talk show they hardly ever saw her. It was always the casual nanny's and assistants that raised the two. Layla's manager Teresa took her in like her own and did all the motherly things Christina couldn't, while also making sure Marcus was looked after as well. That was family to her.
