      Hold On: Tom Waits

I reach the bottom of the stairs as I rub my eyes with the insides of my hands. I then pull my hands away and run my fingers through my hair.

"What's up, fool?" Bozer says and I look up to see him, Mac and Riley dressed in warm clothes at the table.

"I can assure you, Wilt, that I am not the fool here." I enter the kitchen and grab a water bottle from the fridge.

"Especially with that hat." Riley walks past me and we share a chuckle.

"Hey, at least I ain't a walking Kewpie doll like Jack." Bozer tells us. "And this hat brings out my eyes."

"Yeah, okay, I'll have to agree on that." I sit down with Riley. "I'll eat later." I lean back as he holds a plate out to me.

"Why? You feel sick? Is it your back?"

"What have you done?"

"Don't look at me." Riley raises her hands.

"I'll take you to see Eli. He can do another x-ray." Bozer starts to get up.

"Wilt." I stop him. "I don't feel sick and my back is fine, and fully healed. As of four weeks ago." I raise my eyebrows. "Just eating as soon as I wake up makes me nauseous. It's just not for me." I sip my water.

"Okay, okay. But if something was wrong, you'd-"

"Yes. I would tell you. Now eat your breakfast, cause I'm not doing the airplane." I lean my arms on the table and Riley and Mac chuckle.

"Evan, Eli and McKenna are with Jack at the Phoenix. Some stupid mission is about to happen sooner or later." Riley eats her eggs.

"Well, godspeed." I scoff.

"Yep." She chuckles.

"Hoffman or Mathis contact you yet?" Bozer sets his glass down.

"No." I shake my head. "They wanted time, I'll still give it to 'em." I check the time on my watch and fix my t-shirt sleeve.

"So they'll suspect something's off and they'll be eager to come in contact with you."

"Exactly."

"You're a different kind of dangerous woman, you know that?"

"Thank you, Wilt." I drink my water. "You shouldn't eat this so fast. You should enjoy it."

"Why?" Riley furrows her eyebrows. "We got food and water packed up for the camping trip, we're good." She eats her bacon.

"Oh, good." I share a knowing look with Mac. I then see Bozer put ketchup on his eggs and I lock eyes with Riley.

"What?" Bozer sets the bottle down. "Look, ketchup on eggs—don't knock it till you try it, alright? Here." He puts some on the empty place in front of me.
