Chapter 12: Closer to You

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Jungkook hurriedly made his way to the restroom. He looked at himself in the mirror, replaying his kiss with Tae in his mind over and over. 'You've really done it this time Jungkook,' he thought to himself, 'Why did I have to kiss him? How am I going to face him?' Just then his phone buzzed demanding his attention. 'I hope it's not Tae hyung,' Jungkook silently hoped. He looked at the screen and saw that it was Jin calling him. "Hello Jin Hyung," Jungkook answered. "Where are you Kook? We are all waiting for you in the conference room," Jin replied. "I'm on my way, Jin hyung. I'll be there in a minute," Jungkook assured. He quickly splashed some water on his face and rushed out after drying his face. He made his way to the conference room and noticed that the only empty seat was beside Tae. 'So much for avoiding Tae hyung,' he quietly sighed and made his way to the chair.

"Ok, Good morning everyone!" Hobi started, "Let's get settled and go over the final details." Yeonjun got up from his seat and addressed everyone, "So I have the final details in the folders in front of you. We have a total of 75 confirmed guests. The seating chart is on the next page. Let me know if there needs to be any adjustments made. Soobin, Jackson and myself will greet guests at the door and usher them towards their tables. The venue will also provide some staff members to assist with seating guests. As soon as the guests are seated, we will be serving a cocktail with hors d'oeuvres followed by a Welcome Speech by Mr Namjoon. After the welcome speech, we will begin the auction which will last for about an hour. Jackson and Soobin will be handling the auction, while I will be handling the payments and delivery of items. After the auction begins, dinner will be served. Towards the end of dinner and before dessert is served, Mr Taehyung will have his musical performance. We have secured a concert grand piano as per your request Mr Taehyung. Finally, dessert will be served followed by a Thank you speech by Mr Jin."

"Sounds like a good run through for the evening," Joon remarked after looking through the event folder. "Soobin and I have already prepared a script for the evening," Jackson added. Soobin nodded and said, "We have the updated list of items for the auction and will be making sure that all the items are cataloged and prepared before the auction." Hobi informed, "The media have received their passes and invitations. We will have representatives at the site about 45 minutes before the event for interviews and photos with guests. I have also included the media brief in the folders. Jin hyung and Joon please familiarize yourselves with the brief. Kook, the media may have questions for you as well since you will be leading the project." "Me?" Kook said, looking around the room nervously, "I've never had to answer to the media before." "Don't worry Kook," Jin assured, "We'll help you prepare."

"All right everyone," Joon said while standing up and checking his watch, "I have another meeting to attend in a few minutes. Before I leave, I think Kook should address the audience and introduce the project." "What?" Jungkook looked up at Joon, "Do I really have to, Joon hyung?" Public speaking was not something Jungkook looked forward to and his nervousness was obvious. "Of course, Kook," Jimin insisted, "This project is so close to your heart. Who better to introduce it to the world? I know you're nervous but Tae and I will help you with your speech.  Right Tae?" "It will be my pleasure," Tae agreed. "So that's settled," Jin said, "Hobi, let's add Kook to the agenda for the evening." Hearing everyone's confidence in him, Jungkook reluctantly agreed. Joon and Jackson left, leaving the rest of them to finalize the remaining details.

After hours of deliberation, all of the details for the event were ironed out. "Looks like everything is coming along smoothly," Hobi finally stated. "I cannot agree more," Jin added, "Now all that is left to do is the final inspection of the event venue. Yeonjun, have the event coordinators decorated the venue already?" "They are working on it as we speak," Yeonjun confirmed while checking his phone for the latest updates, "They will be done in a couple of hours." "Soobin, can you please check on the delivery of the Tuxedos?" Jin instructed. Finally, Jin looked satisfied with all of the preparations. He suggested that they all take a much needed break for lunch. "I have to finalize the agendas for the evening so Yeonjun and I will have lunch later," Hobi stated and he and Yeounjun left the room. "I will be having lunch with Joon," Jin informed Jungkook, Jimin and Tae, "He's already sent me several messages. And Kook, don't worry about Tahee, I will pick him up after lunch and take him along to the venue. Chim and Tae please help Kook with his speech and media prep."
