Jungkook stepped into his expansive office, the somber ambiance accentuated by the dim glow of the city lights filtering through the tall windows. The room, adorned with sleek modern furniture and minimalistic decor, held an air of formality that mirrored its occupant's demeanor.
As Jungkook entered, his eyes fell on the girl awaiting him. Han Soohee, stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, her silhouette defined by the cityscape beyond. Her long, jet-black hair flowed with each graceful movement, and her sharp blue eyes held a piercing gaze that contrasted with her otherwise soft features. A soft glow seemed to emanate from her, giving an ethereal quality to her presence.
"Jungkook," she greeted him with a smile, her voice carrying a flirtatious undertone. "Finally, you decided to grace me with your presence. It's been months."
Jungkook's response was stoic, his expression unyielding as he closed the door behind him. "What do you want, Soohee?"
Soohee, his university mate and business partner, sauntered towards him with a playful sway in her step. "Is that any way to greet an old friend, Jungkook? I've been missing our little talks."
Jungkook's eyes remained impassive. "We're not here for 'little talks.' What's the business?"
Soohee pouted, feigning disappointment. "Always so serious. Can't we catch up a bit before diving into business?"
Jungkook sighed, his patience wearing thin. "I don't have time for small talk, Soohee. What's the reason for this meeting?"
Soohee's playful demeanor shifted slightly, replaced by a more business-like tone. "Fine, let's get to it. Our quarterly reports are due, and I've been trying to reach you for weeks. We need your input on the financial projections and marketing strategies. The investors are getting antsy."
Jungkook's focus remained unwavering. "Send me the reports. I'll review them when I have the time."
Soohee sighed, her frustration evident. "Jungkook, this is important. The company can't run smoothly without your involvement. You can't keep neglecting your responsibilities."
Jungkook's jaw tightened, his eyes reflecting the strain of the past weeks. "Soohee, I have more pressing matters to attend to right now. The hospital, Taehyung—"
Soohee interrupted, her tone sharper. "I get it, Jungkook. You're wrapped up in your personal life, but this is a business, and it requires your attention. We can't afford to suffer because of your distractions."
A flicker of annoyance crossed Jungkook's face. "My distractions? Taehyung is not a distraction. He's my priority, and I won't apologize for that."
Soohee sighed again, her frustration giving way to a more understanding expression. "I know, Jungkook. I really do. But you have a responsibility here too. You can't let everything crumble."
Jungkook's gaze remained firm. "I won't let anything crumble. Now, if there's nothing else, I need to go."
The air in Jungkook's office seemed to thicken with tension as he made a move towards the door, intent on escaping the confines of the formal space that felt increasingly suffocating. Soohee, however, had different plans.
"Jungkook," she spoke, her voice dripping with a seductive tone, "you're always in such a hurry. Can't you spare a moment for an old friend?"
Jungkook's jaw clenched, irritation seeping into his voice. "Soohee, I don't have time for this. I need to be at the hospital."
Soohee approached him, a sly smile playing on her lips. "Always that Taehyung, isn't it? He's bedridden, Jungkook. What can you possibly do for him that the doctors aren't already doing? He might never be the same again."
