A week later

Carinas pov

"Babe" Maya says, shaking me awake again. I've been in bed all day, sleeping on and off. I groan and roll over, facing away from her. "Come on, get out of bed. I made some dinner. Come eat with me." She says softly, her hand on my back. She got her prosthetic this week and has been walking all around the house and doing everything she can, I guess she missed that aspect of life.

I sigh before standing up to head downstairs. The second I stand up my vision goes black. I try to back up a little to find the bed, but before I can find it, my head gets fuzzy and my body hits the floor.

Mayas pov

"Oh my god. Fuck okay, oh my god." I say, getting down on the floor next to her. I put my hand on her neck, finding her pulse. It's weak. I do the only thing I can think of, call Amelia.

The phone rings once and she answers. "Carina passed out and she's still out, can you come bring us to the hospital?" I say, my heart racing. "On my way. Stay with her." Amelia replies. She lives just down the street from us. If it wasn't for my leg I would've driven, but I haven't gotten behind the wheel since the accident.

She still hasn't woken up. She still alive though. I can feel my heart racing in my chest, like heat running through my veins. I need to get her downstairs so Amelia can drive us to the hospital.

Okay bishop. You can do this. I tell myself. I pull her limp body over my shoulder and slowly push myself up. It's so much harder with only full leg. I head to the stairs and take a deep breath before starting to head down.

I can feel every step on my bad leg, my quad pressed against the hard plastic. Adrenaline is pumping through my veins, almost numbing the pain. Almost.

Amelia bursts through the door as I get to the bottom of the stairs. "Hold the door" I say as I carry her out the door and into amelia's car. I sit in the back with her, her head on my lap. "Maya" I hear her whimper. She's awake. Thank god.

Amelia is speeding to the hospital. "You're awake" I say, taking a deep breath. "What happened?" She asks. "You passed out. We're taking you to the hospital." Her eyes shoot open at that word. "Hospital? I don't need to go. I'm fine." She says, attempting to sit up. She grabs at her head again before laying back down on my lap.

"I don't want an excuse. We're bringing you to the hospital." I reply. "Maya.." she starts but I cut her off. "You were out cold for five minutes. You're going to the hospital. Do not argue with me about this." I sternly say. "I told you I'm fine." She says. "People who are fine don't pass out and stay out." I reply.

We get to the hospital and amelia parks the car. "I'm not going in." She says. "Yes you are. Do not make me carry you." I answer. "Maya I.." she starts but I cut her off. "You have not eaten in days. You slept all day today. You passed out. You are going in, and you are getting the help you need. Carina I swear to god if you don't go in on your own I will get someone out here to do it." I yell.

"You're a dick." She says, getting out of the car. I can tell she's dizzy again, so I put her arms around my neck and help her inside. I know she doesn't mean that. She's sick. She needs help.

Amelia tells the lady at the desk what's happening, and she admits Carina almost instantly. She has a private room, she doesn't want any of her coworkers knowing. Except Bailey, of course, who's taking care of her.

After giving her fluids and running some tests, Bailey comes back with another doctor. "Carina." The other doctor says. I think it's her old therapist from when she was first diagnosed with an ED. "It's Dr. DeLuca." She replies. "I thought we got past that last time?" The therapist replies.

"I thought you could do your job, but since I'm back here, I guess both of us are wrong." Carina says. "Carina." I snap at her. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean that I'm just.. this is a waste of time I don't need to be here." She adds.

Bailey clears her throat before saying "Carina you are severely malnourished and extremely underweight. I also noted the scars on your body. This is not a waste of time. We are here to help you." "I don't need help." Carina replies, tears welling in her eyes.

"If you don't get help, you're going to die. You're lucky you woke up. If you don't get help I can't promise you'll wake up next time." Bailey replies.

At this point tears are streaming down my face. "Can you guys just give me a minute?" Carina asks. "Yes of course" her therapist replies. I head out with them, giving her the space she needs. "Bishop, get that leg checked while you have a second." Amelia says from behind me.

I see Dr. Lincoln down the hall. "Link" amelia yells, he turns his head and sees me walking towards him. He points his head to an open room, and we both head in.

"I'm sorry... about what you're going through. It's hard to watch someone you love like that." He says as I take the prosthetic off. "Thank you." I reply. He checks my incision which at this point is fully healed.  "There's a little bruising here, can you feel this?" He says pushing lightly on a sore spot. "Yup" I say through gritted teeth.

He looks at the sides, and the back before saying "you should be just fine, I would wear the prosthetic less in the next few days to let those bruises heal. Do you have your crutches here?" He asks. "No" I reply. I didn't even think about bringing them. Why would I? My wife was dying in my arms.

"I'll grab some for you. Amelia can put your prosthetic in her car." He replies. He leaves and I immediately break down. I'm in pain. Emotional and physical pain. My wife is.. I can't even think about her without breaking down. She almost died today. My leg is throbbing but that's the least of my worries right now.
