"Are you kidding me !? Your life is like a fricken soap opera ! " Maya exclaimed as she nearly choked on her popcorn.

"I mean, it depends on how you look at it..."

"Alright, this is how I a neutral third party see it. You just got out of the most toxic relationship being treated like absolute dirt for 3 years and now there's these 2 extremely handsome, successful, charming guys that are placed in front of you. Both want to get to know you better, both obviously like you, either being a really good choice. And it's all in your hands. You just have to choose."

I rolled my eyes as I watched Maya display a proud smile.

"I don't know either of them." I noted.

"And you didn't know Jaden either and yet you dated him for almost 4 years and he doesn't even come close to these two guys. Look, all I'm saying is that no one knows anyone really before the first date. That's why it's called dating. To get to know eachother and see if it'll lead somewhere."

I sighed knowing she was right. But also because my current track record wasn't very good.

"I don't even know if I'm ready to date again. It's not even been 6 months."

"Yes, and ?"

"And...I want to be respectful of-"

"Of what? Jaden? I'm sorry Adi but he's not your concern anymore. What you do has nothing to do with him anymore. I'm sure he's not giving you a second thought when he goes out with his friends and talk crap about you. "

I didn't know how to respond to that. I mean, the thought had crossed my mind that I might be the villain in his story just like he's the one in mine...but it hurt more hearing it out loud.

"Okay, say that I want to consider the idea of dating. How would I even choose one of them?"

"It's easy. Go on an unofficial date with both of them and see how it goes."

"Unofficial?" I prompted as I continued to listen to Maya step into her therapist era.

"Like what you did with Ben's uncle. Attend a game, talk a little afterwards and see how the conversation flows. That's an unofficial date. Like you're feeling out the situiation without putting pressure on either one with the title 'date'."

"I guess that could work." I thought aloud.

"Now for your hot hotel owner I was thinking we book in for a girls weekend and then you just coincidentally find yourself in the lobby looking hot and strike up a conversation."

"It sounds like you just want me to pay for a weekend in a fancy hotel."

"I mean...if you're offering." I couldn't help but laugh. Maya was my best friend and even though she was a little crazy at times, I knew her heart would always and forever be on my side just like mine would be for her.

"Fine. I'll make the reservation for this weekend. But you're paying for room service."

"I wouldn't have it any other way."
